Andrew Garfield Reportedly Doing ALL His Own Stunts In The Amazing Spider-Man!

While we've seen British actor Andrew Garfield around New York in the Spider-Man suit, a recent report claims that he is in fact doing all his own stunts, and reveals how he's coping with that...

A source from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man apparently told British newspaper, the Daily Star the following:

Andrew Garfield’s doing all his own stunts and he’s having a two-hour massage every night to keep his aches and pains at bay."

"He has hot Indian oil poured over him to keep his muscles supple and flexible."

Could that have been Andrew Garfield doing all that swinging we saw recently? Hmm...I doubt it, but it certainly could be a possibility according to this report! Either way, it's good to hear that he's doing as many of his own stunts as possible, and this is yet another reason to look forward to the reboot!

With an all star cast that includes Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and Sally Field as Aunt May, The Amazing Spider-Man is set to be released in 3D on July 3, 2012!

Haven't there been pictures of a stuntman doing stunts while Garfield watched? or did I just imagine that?

Didn't we actually see 2-Spidermans on camera already? Remember, the shot with a Spiderman hiding in the back seat of a car while we saw another Spider-man hump some guys face in an odd gymnastics move?

I call BS on this, he is def not doing all his stunts...that wasnt him doing a front flip onto a moving pickup truck, and that def wasnt him doing the hurricarana to that robber in those behind the scene videos.

I'm sure the source is full of it. If the lead actor ends up in a cast then it costs millions in production snafus. There's absolutely no value to having your lead do all of his own stunts when the character wears a mask anyway.

I don't get the logic behind this reboot because the original 3 were very good, the first 2 were some of the best CBMs to come out and yes even the 3rd movie I thought was good, sure they messed up venom(a major villain with very little screen time)in that but it had good excitement, entertainment and great action.

I guess Sony did this purely due to high escalating cost(due to high salaries),but with lot of rich source material available in spidey universe hopefully the new movie too will be as good as the originals.

For that to happen Andrew Garfield better be good because inevitably there will be comparisons to Tobey McGuire and no one can prevent that, that's the problem of recasting a lovable character specially when the predecessor nailed the part to perfection.(just imagine wolverine been recast,it won't be easy)

but spiderman is a fun witty :) character so even if Garfield really messes things up(the Peter Parker part) this should be a fun ride.Looking forward to see what spidey has in store for us next summer.

I doubt he's doing ALL his stunts probably a lot more then usual maybe but if he is then kudos to him. and the first two spidey movies were good but they weren't the best not masterpieces. They screwd up MJ so bad she ended up sounding like whiny selfish bitch at times. Maguire did not nail the part to perfection he was far from it whether it was the script or acting I don't know, he was good but not great.

Anyways yeah found weird that they were rebooting it so early but the fact that it looks that they might play peter parkers intellect since he can't exactly beat the crap out of the lizards, so it should be fun seeing spidey using his brain in battle and please can we get a witty spidy who isn't mute.

LOL, unless theres 2 spidermans in the movie, hes a big LAIR!!! Remember the first video showed spiderman doing a back flip jumping on a moving pickup truck? I really doubt that was him.

Theres noting wrong with someone doing stunts for actors, thats so they dont get hurt, but why lair about it???

I prefer to be rubbed down with a half a bottle of Jack Daniels Whiskey every night…that seems to help relax my tired and sore muscles. Of course I then make sweet love the other half. One cannot let a good bottle of Whiskey go to bed by itself.
I could use a drink right now…anybody seen my bottle????

Hmm... I don't know if this is all cool. Of course it's nice to know he's dedicated to the character, like Viggo Mortensen in LoTR.

BUT in spider-man we have lots of incredible air stunts which I believe you'd need a good stuntman to make it look good. I don't believe he did ALL of those, including @Wildaniel's one.

I'm pretty sure they mean he does every stunt that Peter isn't in his suit for.

And probably a bit of the in-suit stuff.

I don't believe there's an insurance company on the planet that would let a lead actor do ALL his own stunts.Especially not on a movie like Spidey.
Fair play to him for doing as much as they'll let him though.
I have a sneaking suspicion I may enjoy this version.... :)

Bout time someone stepped up and did a lot, if not "all" of their own stunts. You're not part of the social network anymore Garfield...

This is a slight of hand to make you all think that he is working above and beyond on this movie and to make you build trust in his version of Spiderman.

All of HIS own stunts may be simply harnessing work and other stuntwork that he has an option to do or have a stuntman come in to do the work. Stuntmen will still do the extremely risky stuff. The insurance companies backing the film wouldn't take the risk of letting him do all of Spiderman's stunts. This differs from Tom Cruise since Tom has enough money to insure any movie he is in himself.

Still this is pretty cool, I would do all of MY own stunts too if it gets me an Indian oil massage every night. I'm sure Mary Jane wouldn't support Spidey that much even!

I always felt like Spiderman was the funniest or most neurotic character in Marvel besides Deadpool. For me, that made his stories a fun read. I had problems with the emo Spidey that Hollywood squatted on. Hope they get it right this time.

Now he isn't doing all of the stunts, but he's probably doing the max that they allow him to do. Kudos to him for that.

remember he does have a background in gymnastics, and like @Nephillim said, aybe what we've seen is a stuntman tryin out to see whether or not Garfield would be able to do it. Even so it's unlikely that Sony would come out and completely make it up so I'd assume if there are any he's not doing it's only cos theyre really dangerous.
As for the film I think it has the potential to be good. Garfield is an amazing actor, and even before filming started he called up people like Martin Sheen just to have lunch and talk about the characters so I think he really does want to get it right. Its a shame they rebooted it but its going to happen regardless so its best to give it the benefit of the doubt until its been seen

Guys, they said he is doing all HIS own stunts, not Spiderman's stunts. I assume they mean he is doing all the stunts that show his face, the faceless Spidey stunts are most assuredly done by a stuntman...

...think man, think!
