"It will be different. I don't know how right now but I definitely know we're going to work hard to make it a new chapter in the legacy that means so much to so many people. Myself included and Marc Webb included. I'm really excited to jump into it."

And in an interview with Showbiz Spy the actor addressed the concerns from fans that he's too skinny to play Spider-Man, but points out that he's also had plenty of well wishers since nabbing the role of the wallcrawler.

"I have had a lot of good wishes and kind words and a fair bit of criticism too. I heard some people are saying I’m lacking the muscles to be Spider-Man. But the thing is, Spidey is as skinny as me. He’s not Arnold Schwarzenegger!"

LEE: Yeah, I'm hoping that it'll just pick up with Peter in college rather than going through the origins...by 2012 however, it'll have been over a decade since the first movie, so I wouldnt be surprised if they did it all over again! This guy is a great choice for Spidey though and the rest of the cast is looking pretty decent!

I take it you haven't seen "The Social Network" then. Watching that I know that this is the guy who will bring Parker to life. He's an incredible actor with tons of talent. He really has the overall look of Pete that Maguire was missing. Look at that hair man! He looks like he was drawn by Ditko!

well Paulie, I think it's just that everything that has been posted is pretty much the same. The movie hasn't even finished casting yet, there is not much he CAN say because there really ISN'T anything to talk about other then that he's excited to be a part of the whole thing. Which is pretty much what every article posted on this site has been. Other than the Lizard stuff.

@ Superzero-No I have not seen the Social Network. I'm not saying he's a bad choice he just seems so dull, and humorless.

Well if people keep interviewing him without letting some time go by then obviously we`re going to keep getting the same answers. And yes he right about Spidey not being Arnold Schwarzenegger but hes also not a twig. Spidey has that slim ripped physique in which up close in personal hes pretty built but from a distance he can be mistaken for skinny

With all the hype around this movie, youd think people were excited for this abomination. This movie has to bomb. Sony needs to be taught a lesson. They need to learn the errors of their ways. This reboot should NOT of happened. I feel like the expression "Too Soon" was taylor for this whole situation. Sony shoulda just left Raimi do his thing. Greedy basterds...

Being dull and humorless in real life doesn't mean you will be that way in a movie. I have seen him in Boy A, Red Riding, social network and he is a very good actor. Give him a chance.

Spidey isn't skinny! He's not as bulked up as say daredevil, supes or bats...but he's well defined. I'd say he has the perfect runner's body.
Tobey's size was okay for me.
So bulk up Drew!!!

i'm still not sure if his the right choice for peter parker aka spider-man.

i can live with lizard being one of the villains in the film.

but personally i was hoping they would go down the route of the sinister six.

1.vulture & dr.octopus.
2.sandman & electro.
3.mysterio & kraven the hunter.

then done a special fourth movie that was spider-man vs the sinister six.

@ gusto

brandon routh for wonder man

@ teabag

you funny f*cker!

I just saw "The Social Network" over the weekend, and I'm definitely comfortable with Andy playing Peter Parker. Now they just have to give the rights back to Marvel - yet keep Garfield, Emma Stone, and Rhys Ifans - and we can see Andrew and Robert Downey Jr. interact for a "Civil War" movie.

What makes you think it isn't a reboot? I wish you are correct though about it being a new chapter...

Dude, that guy is beyond skinny...DJ Qualls for Peter Parker. Andrew's too fat come to think of it

What's so funny about this whole fiasco is the fact that, if they announced a reboot after the bomb that was Spidey 3, we would all have welcomed it with open arms. but since we were given the false hope that Sam and Co. was going to "redeem" themselves with 4, we were excited. but that excitment very quickly got taken away from us when we heard "reboot" and new cast & crew.

I think it's easy to label Sony the bad guys here due to the fact they're the money hungry studio. But has anyone ever considered that they're protecting the franchise? It wasn't them who made the 3rd movie, Sam did. And did we all forget how reluctant Raimi was to do the 4th one? And how about all those rumors about how he was going to completely ruin the series on purpose? They're hearts weren't in it anymore...

All I'm saying is that there might be a slight posibility that this is the best scenario for everyone involved. Yes I would like a reboot-continuation as well. But with the possibility of Goblin, Doc Ock, and Venom all not able to come back...just doesn't make much sense to continue that story...

Batman got a reboot about 15 years or so after the original Batman...and let's not forget how we all welcomed a Hulk reboot after that atrocity (sp?)

i'm having a bit more hope 4 this movie since the lizard is in it... time will tell... still if it's any good it should be in the MCU!
