EDITORIAL: Spider-Man Villains That Would Make For A Great Movie

My choice for the best Spidey villains that would work in a feature film.

Before I start this I just wanna point out that I am a fan of the Sam Raimi films, I thought they were brilliantly done and Spider-Man 3 could've been the best if Sony and Avi Arad wasn't pushing for Venom in the third which lead to misuse, though I actually like Topher Grace as Venom, I personally felt the strength could've been in the suit to make him stronger but that's just me. I am also looking forward to The Amazing Spider-Man this summer and The Lizard is personally my favorite super villain of any comicbook but that's just me and I can't wait for his big screen debut as far as an antagonist goes. But anyways here's my list of Spider-Man villains that could be good film villains.

1: Lets start with the fan favorite, Venom. He was used right but at the same time he wasn't used right. He was used right as far as who the character is, but wasn't as far as screen time goes. I felt they could've taken advantage of his use in the film and have an epic fight between him and the wall crawler. Then left the gates open for a 4th movie against Carnage.

2: He's not a kid friendly villain but that's why he would be a good choice. Carnage could've had a big chance if they would've used Venom right in Spidey 3. He could've made the 4th film really dark and really feel like a life threatening villain. and we could really see the chance of Spider-Man dying.

4: Shocker, I personally don't care much for the character but if teamed up with another villain (my choice of partner being Mysterio) then we could be a better on screen villain, he could compliment who his partner is and they could be a threat against Spidey and New York. Again he isn't a strong stand alone character that's why he needs a partner.

5: Mysterio I feel could have a chance as far as being a challenge mentally and have Spider-man try to figure out what is reality and what isn't. I think it could be brilliant but again like Shocker he needs a complimentary partner.

6: Green Goblin, I personally felt they did what they could with the costume as far as not making it goofy. I think, especially with the new movies happening, they could have a different take on arguably his greatest adversary.

7: Like Shocker and Mysterio, Chameleon could be a great villain if partnered right. I think it would be brilliant to have him and Mysterio team up for a film. Have a challenging villain mentally for a change.

8: Scorpion, Why not have a villain Jameson hired for a change? Scorpion is physically challening and has a HUGE tail, why not have him?

9: Kraven the Hunter, I think he could be a good villain if they went the route they did for Spider-Man 3 the game where he hunted The Lizard. That would make for an interesting plot twist where Spider-Man would have to save an enemy but at the same time defeat one.

10: Last but not least, The Lizard. I know he's in this year's Spidey movie but judging by the trailer's they are but aren't doing him justice which worries me. Dr. Curt Connors is NOT, I repeat NOT suppose to enjoy the power. He's suppose to rebel against it, The Lizard is a different mind and character, not one whole hybrid. I kinda like the look of him in the movie but not who the character is. The Lizard has potential cinematically to be a great, menacing semi-villain. He's a villain as the monster, but isn't because he is one of Spider-Man's greatest ally. Keep that interesting dynamic and treat the character carefully and you could have one of the best CBM villains of all time.

There is my list, what about you? Is there a villain you want to see brought to life, or redone right? Do you have disagreements or agreements with me? Comment below.

You get a thumbs up, sir.
I totally agree, especially on the Lizard.

For Green Goblin, I'm a little iffy. I'm positive Tommy Lee Jones can't play Norman because he's way too old now, and I don't think Willem Dafoe is going to want to play him again, especially without Raimi. For me, the actors playing the characters are very important to me. A lot of people want Christoph Waltz because he was so brilliant in Inglourious Bastards, and I've got to admit, that'd be great - but I don't think he'd enjoy that kind of type-casting. I'm satisfied with Willem Dafoe's portrayal: my only problem (apart from the super sculpted costume) was that he didn't have enough time to really establish himself as Spider-man's archenemy... but that was how the movies were. I hope they don't kill Connors off.

I think Willem Dafoe was perfect casting, and I agree I hope they don't kill of Connors but they more than likely will

Even though the majority of spiderman villains are of the science gone wrong variety i'd appreciate it if they got away from oscorp and started intrducing rhino, silvermane, tombstone, kraven, vulture, electro, or maybe hydroman. Something different on the big screen. Realistically we only hve two more films before another reboot due to garfields age so i wouldnt retread more than 1 of doc ock, venom or gg.

@Name: I understand why not wanting to redo characters that have already been done but Venom and what The Lizard appears to be. I feel it's necessary

!st of all , good editorial. Good subject to tackle too...

Personally, I think 'Electro' is Spidey's greatest threat.
Why? He can control/travel trough electricity , which in this day and age, would be absolutely catastrophic!!!

Computer's, smart phones...geez EVERYTHING relevant is dependent and/or susceptible to electrical manipulation...even the human body!

Yeah, def 'Electro'.

definitly electro and kraven can be done well, i think shocker should be used as they did in ultimate books with spidey always taking him out easily, basically the joke if the sinister six.

I personally don't like Electro. To me he's more on an enhanced version of Shocker. I know I definatlly should've put Electro instead of Shocker, and I know redo's are usually a dumb idea. But the way I look at it they definatlly missed out on alot. I think after this new trilogy they need to do it right, Make The Lizard who he is in the comics. Make Venom more menecing, as I stated above I would also like to see a team up with Mysterio and Chameleon.
