EDITORIAL: Will The Amazing Spider-Man 2 live up to the hype?

The Amazing Spider-Man may not have been "Amazing", but can its sequel actually be Superior?

Editorial Opinion

First thing i'd like to say is this is my first article,I felt that I had to contribute something to the site. Feel free to give me constructive criticism. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 seems to have some great potential. The first film was (in my opinion) on par with Raimi's first film, or a little better. What really brought it down was Sony stepping in and cutting the true untold story from the film. As the deleted scenes have shown, this film could have been greater than it actually turned out to be. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 can be a lot better than the first, now that Sony has cut parts from Webb's first film. It's kind of crazy to say that, but it makes sense. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 can now expand upon elements from the first film the were not really shown. Sequels to the first film, are almost always the best of the trilogy, or the better of the two. Proof being Spider-Man 2. Marc Webb can now analyze what wasn't great from the first film, cut it out, and make what was good about the The Amazing Spider-Man even better. Now with a villian like Electro, we can expect a spectacular fight scene between him and Spidey.

Peter's best friend Harry and being implemeted into the story and Mary Jane making an appearance will surely make this film feel more like a Spider-Man movie.

I feel like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will truly be, amazing.

Sure it can be better. The first one sorta had to be a remake of the original to get the story set up, but the sequel can be it's own thing.
So, yeah, it can be better, as long as it doesn't rehash the whole MJ, Harry, Goblin stuff from the original trilogy...
Oh, wait...
Yeah, that's exactly what they're doing.

Hell yes. The origin is done so there's more time to develop certain things.

I think it will be, when creating origin movies there's a restraint to creative freedom. The second time around you can tell the story you really want.

Said it before I'll say it again, fully enjoyed this movie. I'm looking forward to the sequel and I don't understand all the hate.

The first one was great. On par with the original and I think they've set up this series to be something truly special. It hink Electro is a great choice for a villain and I hope that the manage to set up Green Goblin for the third. And while trilogies usually work best, who says they can't make more after that? We'll see how the sequel goes, but I'm pretty excited.

Im sure that Sequel will do good as director will sort out the mistakes in part 1 and cast already looks good and whether what happens. There is a huge Spider-Man fan base and no one stop that fans to see this movie..kids love spidey.

Yea it's great potential. But after Garfield's run is over I want the second best person to play Spidey, lerman, and I want a kraven the last hunt storyline!

If the changes to Electro are true then I am officially excited for the film. If not, then I won't be. Mostly due to the fact that Electro is such a crap villain. Hell, he has never even had a entertaining fight. It's ridiculous. I personally think TASM is the best of the Spider-Man movies. I know the story isn't as good and that the villain (despite being my favorite) isn't as engrossing and great as Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin. It does a superior job at everything else. I'm not saying I prefer action over story. But, while TASM has a weaker plot, it's still a strong enough one to make a strong film and I think that's what TASM was, a strong film. I am even more in love with the cast for the second than I am with the first, I seriously don't see how I can even come close to the first TASM unless they change Electro's character which I hope everything he has said bout the character so far is true. Cause then Electro might actually be interesting for the first time ever.

Amazing Spider Man had some great scenes such as the saving the kid on the bridge scene, and the high school lizard fight scene...

but overall it did not have the heart and humor that Spider Man should.

The 2nd one better get it right.

and the Uncle Ben death was not done well. Why did he go for the gun? why did the guy shoot him? It didn't make sense at all. very forced.

@Unibeam11 What I really would like to say wouldn't be very nice, but here's what i'll say instead. I'd like to thank you for that constructive criticism, as this is my first editorial. I'll be sure to take what you said in to consideration. Honestly it was very helpful.

@Ghostt- Because, previously he told Peter that if you could do good things for other people, who had a moral obligation to those things. That being, Ben had the chance to stop the thief who would have gone on to kill somoen else. Ironic.
