MADAME WEB Concept Art Appears To Reveal Plans For Tom Holland's Scrapped Cameo As Spider-Man

New Madame Web concept art has been revealed which appears to confirm there were once plans for Tom Holland's Spider-Man to go one-on-one with the villainous Ezekiel Sims. Check it out after the jump...

Set photos for Morbius revealed several references to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, including graffiti of Tobey Maguire's wall-crawler plastered with the word "Murderer" and nods to the classic Daily Bugle logo.

None of those made it into the final cut and it's widely believed they were scrapped once Sony Pictures reached a new deal with Marvel Studios to share Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

In Madame Web's case, what was once planned is less clear. The movie took place in the early 2000s and included Mary Parker giving birth to Peter (meaning that, in the present day, Spidey would be in his early 20s).

There were once rumours about Cassie Webb reaching out into the Multiverse and perhaps even sending the baby Peter to another reality to keep him safe...which would have presumably been Earth-616. It sounds dumb and, if this was ever planned, it's probably for the best that Sony scrapped the idea.

Now, we have some new concept art from Madame Web courtesy of artist Sebastian Meyer. In that, we see Holland's web-slinger doing battle with Ezekiel Sims high above New York City. They're also depicted fighting their way down the side of a skyscraper.

It's possible this was just made to get a feel for the costumed Ezekiel's fighting style, though we don't know why he'd need to be fighting Spider-Man for that when Madame Web featured three different Spider-Women!

Back in February, we asked actor Tahar Rahim whether he'd like to square off with Spidey to which he replied, "[Laughs] That would be cool but I think it's a question to ask the studio. Who knows what the future holds?"

When we similarly asked director SJ Clarkson about whether a Spider-Man cameo was ever planned, she deflected by saying, "Well, I think I concentrated on the fact it was called Madame Web and I was very excited about the fact we had a really strong, brilliant female superhero at the fore."

Meanwhile, in another universe...In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing's most enigmatic heroines.

The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures...if they can all survive a deadly present.

The movie stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.

Madame Web is now available on Digital platforms.

It's so funny to me that almost every Sony-verse movie had concept art featuring Tom Holland's Spider-Man and they immediately never follow through. It's almost as if Sony knows their movies are terrible and if they damage Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Marvel Studios will pull out immediately and watch Sony go bankrupt.

Ezekiel was a complete bada55 in the film, all he had to do was choke a b1tch and that was that. Even his mouth had trouble keeping up with his heroic dialogue.
