Back during last week's New York Comic Con, Comic Book Resources attended a panelp with Gerard Lehiany, Creative Director of Beenox, and Doug Heder, a producer at Activision. Revealing a few details for the video game tie-in for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, as well the status on The Avengers video game, read below!

Heder revealed that, while he couldn't name any specific villains, "[The 'Amazing Spider-Man' game is] not retelling the movie story, we are actually expanding it. [The game] takes place after the events of the movie."

In response to the current status of an "The Avengers" movie video game, referring to the game that was recently scrapped in mid-production, the panel host & marketing director for Marvel games, Javon Fraizer replied, "Yes, Marvel did get the rights back for 'The Avengers,' and fans should look forward to a game being released near the opening of the film.

So, despite about seven months remaining 'til The Avengers hit the big screen worldwide, it seems we can surely expect a video game tie-in. Hopefully the quality won't feel as rushed as its development time; which I suppose depends on the yet-to-be-announced developer Marvel partners with. And judging from a poll, Activision is a fan-favorite. What do you think?

Marvel's The Avengers is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner with Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012.

I was kinda hoping for the Spider-Man game to follow the storyline of the movie because usually when games that follow the movie are made, they tend to contradict stories that follow. Like how at the end of Green Lantern, Sinestro puts on the yellow ring and Hal Jordan is fully aware of the unstable power that yellow energy contains, but at the start of game Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, Hal has no idea what Yellow energy is and Sinestro still has his green ring on.

Sounds cool but why cant they just make a new badass Spidey game (in the vein of the new Batman games) without connecting it to the movie.
That how i think they could create much better storyline with lots of familiar and scary villains.

I would like to see somekind of major plotline which carries Spidey through New York City (this time in more darker style with blood and stuff) facing villains like Hobgoblin, Green Goblin, Venom, Doc Ock, Electro, Vulture, Scorpion, The Kingpin, Kraven, Lizard, Shocker, Morbius, Mysterio, Sandman, Rhino, Swarm, Silvermane, Carnage, Jack O´Lantern (I would like to see him in the game), The Jackal, Mendel Stromm aka The Robot Master, The Enforcers, Carrion, Vermin and maybe even The Spider Doppleganger.

After the events of the movie? Hmm. Not sure if I'll like that or not.. Why not have a part one to the game (movie story) and then when you beat the game and do crazy missions there's a part 2 (after-movie events). Like in Spider-Man 2.
