SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME May Have New Digital Release Date; Concept Art Of Tobey Maguire's Spidey Released

A new Digital release date has seemingly been revealed for Spider-Man: No Way Home, while some officially released concept art from the threequel offers a closer look at Tobey Maguire's return as Spidey...

With Spider-Man: No Way Home still riding high in theaters, it's no wonder Sony Pictures appears to be in no rush to announce the movie's Home Entertainment release. After recently passing Avatar to become the third highest-grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office, takings are definitely slowing and will likely stall completely by the time The Batman is released in March.

That could explain this latest (possible) update on plans for Spider-Man: No Way Home's Digital debut.

According to a listing on the Microsoft Store, the MCU blockbuster will be released at midnight on Tuesday, March 1. That's a little later than the last date we had (February 28), but both could just be placeholders until Sony Pictures makes an official announcement about its HE plans.

While we wait for an update, concept artist Christian Cordella has shared his take on Tobey Maguire's Friendly Neighbourhood wall-crawler for Spider-Man: No Way Home. The first piece of artwork actually leaked shortly before the movie was released in theaters, but this Instagram post offers a couple of nice hi-res shots of the classic suit worn by this Peter Parker Variant.

It obviously didn't undergo many changes since we last saw it in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, but that's not a bad thing, and it looked nothing short of spectacular during the movie's epic final battle.

The third wheel of the movie. You can tell the director doesn't like Raimi's Spider-Man. Wish he didn't come back.

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - What the heck are you talking about? He made him the wisest version of the character who the others aspire to be like.

@HOTSHOT - One, he's the least of them to get emotional moments. He's treated like he didn't get it as bad the other two. Two, Garfield's SM got his arc closed by saving MJ, and Tobey-Man was doing jack shit. He didn't try to save MJ (and fail, hence why Garfield's SM then steps in) or Ned, he was just being the third wheel. He also never talks about Aunt May. He also gets no scenes with Goblin, even tho it would make the most sense, since he's his villain, and there's this one big black cloud over his head named Harry Osborn, who died, as was mentioned in the movie. I think those two sharing a scene, and Tobey-Man maybe fighting him and trying to talk sense into him by revealing what will happen to Harry if he doesn't change his ways, would be nice and make sense.

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - 1) that was done on purpose because of Tobey maguire. He didn't want there to have been a story arc for him since that would involve expanding what happened after the trilogy, and he wanted to keep those films self contained. So they instead wrote him as a mentor. Mentors don't normally have arcs.

2) he didn't save mj because garfield got it. And he could've went to help Ned, but since it wasn't the main focus of the scene, we just didn't see it nor did we need to since Ned wasn't in immediate danger. Also, what do you mean he didn't talk about aunt may? That's literally what he was in the movie to do, talk to Holland about aunt may. Do you mean his aunt may? Because, in the context, it's uncle Ben that's much more relevant.

3) I'll agree it'd be cool for more of a scene with him, but it's already so full, we got that moment with him and doc ock, and he's not the only one missing an interaction with a villain (garfield and lizard) that you can't say it's picking on his spiderman.

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - Tobey gets plenty to do:
- He's the one who initially gets through to Tom's Peter and tells him that May's death doesn't have to be meaningless if they fight for what she believed in.
- Andrew's Peter has a lot more unresolved trauma in his life that Tobey's so it makes sense that they give him a redemptive moment by saving MJ; Tobey, on the other hand, clearly regrets the deaths of both Norman (and by extension, Harry) and Otto - he says he's been thinking about a Goblin cure "for years" suggesting he's been thinking about Norman and Harry ever since their deaths, while we get that fantastic moment towards the end where Tobey-Peter and Otto reunite and are clearly happy to see each other alive and well and to not be fighting one another.
- Tying into all that, Tobey is the one who literally steps in to stop Tom murdering Norman, which is a HUGE character moment considering he is indirectly responsible for Norman's death in the main Raimi timeline; this means he's now creating a brand new timeline where not only Norman gets to live, but Harry doesn't become obsessed with Spider-Man and end up eventually dying as well (seeing as he wouldn't become the Goblin) and Otto probably never worked for Oscorp (seeing as Harry was in charge when he was hired) and as a result probably never became Doc Ock. So Tobey ABSOLUTELY gets a moment of redemption to close out his arc too.

That's the amazing thing about this movie; these 3 versions of Peter don't just come together to look cool on screen, they actually make each other better, help each other overcome their personal traumas and give each other a clean slate and a fresh start.

And yeah, it would've been nice to hear about Aunt May, but maybe Tobey (and Andrew) were being sympathetic by not bringing up their probably alive-and-well Aunt Mays around Tom after losing his mere hours before.

And yeah, maybe Tobey and Norman having actual dialogue might've been a decent addition, but actions speak louder than words and Norman being cured after being saved by Tobey, and then realising to his own horror that he's stabbed and tried to kill him, does that just as effectively. Norman asking "what have I done?" after regaining his senses pretty much confirms he's not a villain anymore.

I would've liked a bit more insight into Tobey's life after Spider-Man 3 too, don't get me wrong, but what we got was plenty and giving any more would've run the risk of derailing the pacing of the movie by suddenly making it about him when Tom is still playing the main character.

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - "least of them to get emotional moments" because he's already lived through everything they have.

"Treated like he didn't get it as bad as the other two" literally when? He mentions Ben's death, his desire for vengeance, losing his best friend etc.

"He didn't try to save MJ"

Because that moment was for Andrew and fit him thematically. Tobey could've been distracted at that moment. This is a pure nitpick. And as I recall, in the first Raimi film, he kinda of stood around and just started as Goblin blew people up for half a minute in the parade scene, so this is more of a problem with this version altogether than something the director did here.

"He never talks about Aunt May" because it's not relevant. His May is alive. His Ben was the parent he lost, thus he brought it up to comfort Peter.

"No scenes with Goblin" because the film has other things to juggle and they opted to give him his reunion moment with Otto, the one he actually had good terms with in the end.

These are very much nitpicks and none of them mean the director hated Tobey. If he did, he would've portrayed him as an idiot who doesn't know what's going on or just gets angry a lot.
