SILVER AND BLACK Director Gina Prince-Bythewood To Helm THE OLD GUARD Adaptation For Skydance

Though Sony's planned Silver and Black movie is apparently still on the studio's agenda, with the Spidey spinoff stuck in development, director Gina Prince-Bythewood (Cloak and Dagger, The Secret Life of Bees) has lined up another project.

According to THR (confirming an earlier report from Omega Underground), she'll helm a big-screen adaptation of Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez's Image comic series The Old Guard for Skydance.

For those unfamiliar with the story, here's a synopsis:

"The Old Guard focuses on a small group of soldiers, led by a woman named Andy, who are inexplicably immortal and have been working as mercenaries through the ages. The novelty of not dying long gone, the group gets a jolt in their bones when they discover the existence of a new immortal, a black woman serving in the Marines, at the same time as a nefarious organization captures their undying actions on camera."

Tell us, have you read The Old Guard? If so, are you excited about the comic series being adapted for the screen? Sound off in the comments.

Good, maybe this means they've scrapped Silver & Black.

its a shame that this book only ran for one arc. It was interesting. Same could be said for The Activity at Image comics. although that one ran for 3 arcs.

@PantherKing - 'The Goddamned' also had a solid one arc run. Underrated book.

Sony should really let Marvel use whatever characters they want. They’d all make way more money. Hopefully this means future projects like this won’t be carried out.
