THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: Otto Octavius And Oscorp Mentioned In Latest Daily Bugle Viral

Doctor Octopus' arms were spotted in the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and now the latest viral article for 'The Daily Bugle' site reveals that "world-renowned nuclear researcher" Otto Octavius is rumoured to be working with Oscorp! Read on for details.

Some people have visions of the future. Me?

I went and saw it with my own eyes.

Behind the ridiculously fortified superdoors of OsCorp Industries headquarters the future waits patiently for the rest of us to arrive. Only a privileged few reside there — guardians of the secrets that only time (and intrepid journalists!) will reveal.

Under pressure to quiet growing Wall Street rumors of plans gone awry, OsCorp spokesman Donald Menken gave me a glimpse into that future.

I was only given limited access to this room, and legally I can’t discuss what I saw in detail. I can barely describe what I saw now. Had I stepped just one foot deeper, it would have been too overwhelming for me to handle.

Prototypes from the United States Military? CHECK. Alternative energy experiments? CHECK. Stuff I don’t understand enough to even describe it correctly? SUPERCHECK.

It’s like what my childhood closet would have looked like if all toys were free and unlimited — but OsCorp’s toys can save the world…or obliterate it.

So, if the future is already in the warehouse, how do they keep advancing? When money is no object, it means the best facilities filled with the brightest minds in science.

The scientific rumor mill (there is such a thing — I checked) has floated every leading name as a possible contributor. But none is more intriguing than world-renowned nuclear researcher Otto Octavius.

When asked about that rumor, Mr. Menken replied, “I can’t confirm or deny any rumors you read on the web. We talk to a number of different scientists every day about our special projects.”

@WombRaider
In the ultimate spider-man comics, Dock Ock, worked for osscorp. And this reboot takes inspiration so of course he will be connected to oscorp. smh

Im sticking with Clive Owen as Doc Ock. That pic above only helps me like Owen for the role even more.

DrDoom@ If that rumor we heard a little while back meant what we all wanted it to mean, then "TASMverse" IS the MCU.

What if the guy in the hat that's creeping around is jamenson. That would be a surprise.

Soooo in this incarnation of Spidey, Oscorp is going to be involved in the creation every villain?? How creative

Okay, now I'm pretty sure B.J. Novak is Otto.

It's really no less creative than almost every villain in Star Wars being an agent of sorts of the Empire.

maninfinesuit - 12/6/2013, 3:46 PM
And yeah, B.J. Novak could be an interesting Octavius, if they go the route of Otto being utterly pathetic beforehand as in Spectacular Spider-Man. My only question is, 'Can he pull off the maniacal side?'

Javier Bardem as Doctor Octopus, based on the character from the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show! Scientist's downfall, works for Norman Osborn in the underground sewers of NYC!

Bardem is a good choice, definitely use a person that can draw a lot of people

I second Doom's comment. I really wanted to like this reboot, but damnit they make it so difficult.

Javier Bardem is my choice for the next Joker but he'd be a great Doc Ock

The guy in the hat and coat that we saw on the trailer walking pass the Vulture wings and Doc Ock's arms will turn out to be Otto Octavius; same guy who talked to Conners in TASM after credit.

I love the fact that most of the villains (if not all) are connected to Oscorp. There's nothing wrong with that. It makes perfect sense. And I happen to love this new Spider-Man universe. Andrew Garfield is the way I always envisioned Spider-Man on the big screen.

Everything connecting to Oscorp reminds me of what I originally thought would happen in Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. I thought the fear toxin from the narrows is what was going to drive all the criminals mad. It would of made perfect sense. Loving this new franchise. ASM2 should bring Spidey back to the mountain top.

But how did that guy get in and out of Connor's cell as if by magic? Mephisto? Or Mephistopholes, due to rights issues? Mysterio? He is pretty mysterious.

On the bright side, the kids are going to love this film, Andrew Garfield is a great Spiderman and there's lot's of action.

There's a lot of stuff I dislike about this film, but there are some silver linings too.

I just hope Spiderman wears his helmet in this one.

@MarkV lmao. I think bardem would be a fantastic Doc Ock. Him or PSH would be great. I would want Bardem as Kraven but idk if he can do a Russian accent. Also I think Michael Shannon would make a great Kraven. Imagine the intensity he would bring to a " The Last Hunt" movie.

comes from Oscorp!!!!
CaptainAmerica31
CaptainAmerica31 - 12/6/2013, 4:36 PM
I don't think making all the villains come from Oscorp necessarily means it makes sense. It makes sense that they are coming after Spider-man because they want something from him. I think if spidey took them all out and they met in Ravencroft and formed the S6 would make sense. However that would take time, six movies or 7 movies time. It's better they went the Oscorp route because they are connected to Osborn and he pulls the strings. It makes it easier too add more than one villain in a film and it not seem forced. I'm fine with electro being a henchmen. His character is a glorified henchmen in the books too and his character is lame in some ways. He's not a A-list villain, most people thought it wouldn't be good to have electro be the main villain. Many people wanted him to be apart of a grander scheme. Will it looks like you got what you wanted

This is one of thing I don't like. All his villain has do with oscorp its annoying oscorp wasn't use that much in the comics. Norman not evil at first sum bag in business world sure bad father ok not evil and crazy. Goblin formula made him go nuts and crazy. Lost memories he was normal little crazy then back to nut case. Dr. Ock can't say he was bad guy at first (until they change his backstory) lab accident cause brain damage that why he when full blown nut case do anyone read the comics?
