The final question that Cinema Blend asked was about if the movie is set up for a franchise. The response from Marc Webb is tantalizing as he hints that the story arc for Peter parents will have something to do with the future villain. He didn't go into detail, but hinted that the film would leave some clues as whom the next baddie would be. Smells like an Osborn to me, but what do you think?

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, the films swings into theaters July 3, 2012 in 3D!

@spidey31 :O are you kidding? mysterio could toally be a main villian, he could fin out who peter is, and use his illusions to make him think his uncle bens alive to get him out of the way, spidey could find outi ts not real and we could have an epic trippy final battle between the 2

I've been wanting to see Mysterio on the big screen since they first mentioned the possibility of a Spiderman movie years ago, if not before. Still waiting.

They didn't respect the source material....the changing of the essence of Uncle Bens death being the catalyst for PP becoming SPidey has come to a horrible fruition....[frick]

Green Goblin. Played by Christoph Waltz like some have said?

I'm afraid for this movie- box office wise.

Either it's making $700M+ or 'John Carter' performance, worldwide.

@ultimospider you are really taking that to heart huh? That one change in the Spidey mythos isn't that bad, Nolan had plenty of changes in the mythos and it didnt stop those movies from being incredible let's be honest nolan does not stay close to the comics. I know this is a big factor changed in the mythos and could alter things a bit but atleast he becomes spiderman and uncle Ben does have a role in creating him? Tolmach said it won't be the catalyst meaning the biggest reason why he becomes spiderman.

I still think Venom could have his own Dark Knight-esque movie; tie in his divorce story line with him on the run from the government, and it makes for a great film. I believe only a few directors can pull this off however.

Probably Venom, if they end up going the direction of the Ultimate Spider-man version of the character

logically it should be green goblin cause you can do a whole angle with him killing gwen like the comics and make peters vow to protect even stronger it could really bring the depth of the character a lot greater like the comics

I think there has to be another villan in this movie, I could be wrong but I dont think the Lizard would be able to carry a movie as the only villan

"Dude knows his stuff, Webb and Whedon RESPECT THE SOURCE MATERIAL!!!"

Non Spider-man Costume.

Altered Uncle Ben origins.

Naked, generic Lizard Man.

GILF Aunt May with no grey.

Yeah, I think Webb is nailing the source material.

Kraven & Chameleon
OR
Norman Osborn & Shocker, Electro, Hobgoblin or Morbius

Didn't Chameleon have something to do with his parents' storyline originally?

I was kind of hoping for Kraven and Lizard in one film originally.

I would definitely like to see Sinister Six, but that's more of a #3 thing.
