Kirsten Dunst And Tobey Maguire Wanted Cameos In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Reboot

The wide-ranging actress reveals that both she and the original Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire wanted to have a cameo in Sony's new Spider-Man movie.

The quirky beauty says that both she and Tobey had hoped to make a cameo in Sony's reboot of the Spider-Man franchise but the top Execs at Sony were having none of it.

“I wanted to do a cameo,” explains Kirsten.

“I had the idea of Tobey and I as extras and we’d just walk by in the background but it’s not in there. I love Andrew Garfield and I think Emma Stone (who plays love interest Gwen Stacey) is cute too. I think that they’re going to be really cute in the movie for sure. They look like they have good chemistry.”

Romantic chemistry is a key focal point of the Spider-Man franchise in drawing in audience members that aren't necessarily fans of the old web-head. While a lot of things can be said about the original movie, from praise to criticism, Tobey and Kirsten definitely had chemistry. Hopefully Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will bring their real life romantic chemistry to the big screen and deliver the best Spider-Man movie yet.

The Amazing Spider-Man is an upcoming American superhero film based on the comic book of the same name that is currently in post-production. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and the first film in a rebooted Spider-Man film franchise. The film is being directed by Marc Webb. The cast includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors. The film will portray Peter Parker as he is developing his super powers in high school. It is scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3, 2012.

I think Kirsten is incredibly beautiful. She could've had better makeup and wardrobe in Spidey.

As for a cameo happening, NO [fricking] way! Would totally undermine the seriousness of the film.

@Spidey91 - Haha, that would've been messy. :P

Well, I'm not sure that a cameo of those two would've worked. I mean, I appreciate their performances in the Spider-Man trilogy (Spider-Man 3, not so much), but there's no reason for them to do a cameo. So, yeah. Dodged a bullet there. xD

Stay EPIC, my friends!

The only person that can deliver a great cameo performance is the one and only Stan "THE MAN" Lee!

'Nuff said.

People who are saying that if they cameo'd it'd be distracting, or ruin the seriousness of the film... No-one remember the countless cameos that poor Lou Ferrigno has had to endure over the years, because HE really helped to bring Hulk into the limelight? Love them or hate them, Dunst and Maguire did near-enough the same for Spidey and the 21st Century audiences! I for one think it would've been a great idea!

You know what is funny? Tobey and Kristen dated after they met on Spider-man just like Emma and Andrew are doing right now.

Does no one else think its hysterical that they were so adamant about not doing Spidey 4 without Sam Raimi, yet they wanted a cameo in this?

I think its hysterically ironic, but whatever.

seriously? a harmless easter egg that most people probably wouldn't even notice at first glance would undermine the seriousness of... a movie about a boy bitten by a radioactive spider who gains super human abilities fighting a mutated lizard man.

riiiiiiight.

It woulda been cool to see them pop up and the fact that they wanted to shows they clearly love the franchise. And besides, you'd just about have to know about it to even notice. Hair and make-up can go a long way. No one got too distracted when Raimi snuck Lucy "Xena" Lawless in the first one, after all.

Glad it didn't happen. I love Raimi and the first Spidey but they went steadily down hill. Better to make a clean break.

The cameos in First Class actually work within their screwed up continuity, these cameos wouldn't. But if in 20 years they start a new Spidey franchise then they can have cameos, right now is just too soon

No one ever mentions the cameo of tom "The Punisher" Jane in Spiderman 2, Because hardly anyone knows it. As long as Tobey isn't spiderman, i could care less.

Disney, just buy Spider-man already and retcon this reboot mess and give us the sequel WE want and Put Raimi back on board and let him do his thing with no studio interference.

I personally dont find Spidey that entertaining. Nor do I find Fantastic Four that great either. Maybe if the two team up permanantley, and they'll make good movies.
