Since the announcement of Sony sharing the Spidey rights with the [frick]ing Marvel Cinematic Universe, my life fell apart and made me more angry, clinically depressed, and suicidal! Columbia Pictures gave up their cinematic universe for this crap and yet everybody thinks this is okay, but it's not. I e-mailed Theodore Bond my fan art project on what THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Cinematic Universe would've looked like to be shown on Awesome Art We've Found Around the Net on the JoBlo website. He never responded! So, now you may ask what the hell am I supposed to do? Well, since you can make blogs with pictures on here, I have decided to show you all my hard work. This was originally a 34-page project on what would've been if me and Sony had our way, but unfortunately because Comic Book Movie would only allow ONE banner image to a single article, I'm copying and pasting the first 32 pages into this blog while the ONLY image required to a blog will be the "real" fan art. The second last page, which will not be on here, is the plan of said "real" fan art explaining where the characters are in case anybody got confused while the text below this paragraph explains clearly what Sony's own MCU would've become. Those who agree with me that Sony's cowardly move is wrong will definitely love what I made, but for those who whether or not prefer the MCU over this, I hope you guys enjoy this blog too!
A message to Sony, Marvel, Andrew Garfield, Marc Webb, Sam Raimi, Stan Lee, and to all those superhero-loving fanboys who begged to have Spider-Man part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
~ The people at Sony ~
You guys had a great plan put together for a cinematic universe that has no Avengers whatsoever with The Sinister Six, Venom, a female superhero, and the idea of releasing at least one Spidey-related movie a year. But, since THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 came out, the internet has been claiming that you guys don’t know what to do....which is ridiculous! Of course, this is coming from someone who hates the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but instead of going with your plans and claiming to not know how to move forward, you all pull off a cowardly move and have my favorite superhero part of The Avengers rather than resolving conflicts and cliffhangers like Uncle Ben’s Killer, Peter moving on from Gwen’s death, The Sinister Six, and that Rhino fight ending TASM2.
~ The people at Marvel and Stan Lee ~
I love Spider-Man and the Tobey Maguire trilogy directed by Sam Raimi was a big part of my movie-loving childhood. Sure, he was an Avenger in the comics before a big-screen Spider-Man movie ever existed, but I’m talking about the film version of the webslinger here. The five SPIDER-MAN movies we’ve seen so far are dark and scary for the little kids mostly because of the villains and the realistic tone these films had. The stupid MCU are somewhat more family-friendly with no “Frightening Scenes” warning on the Canadian ratings of these films. I know you guys created these characters, but to have Sony’s golden goose an Avenger without giving Sony a chance to properly wrap up Andrew Garfield’s story is entirely unfair!
~ Andrew Garfield, Marc Webb, and Sam Raimi ~
I can’t believe you guys are okay with Spidey’s recent strategy! THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 ended with cliffhangers and they won’t be resolved and you all think this is okay, but it’s not. Sam: I loved your trilogy and SPIDER-MAN 3 did end with a few unanswered questions like Peter and Mary Jane’s relationship, but nothing’s worse than the unanswered questions of TASM2. You’re a fan of the two AMAZING SPIDER-MAN movies, yet you praise the idea of the series’ abrupt end? Are you nuts? Marc: I loved your two ASM movies no matter what anybody says! Well okay, I still prefer the original trilogy in a way, but you’re excited for Spidey to be part of the stupid Avengers? Andrew: I get that you’re okay with not playing Spidey anymore, but that’s just ridiculous. It was your dream! And you’re okay with that dream being taken away from you? I’m also aware that you like Tom Holland and I can’t wait to see his movie IN THE HEART OF SEA....but you had a dream, you had a cinematic universe coming your way, and now you have all these unresolved conflicts like Uncle Ben’s Killer, Peter moving on from Gwen’s death, The Sinister Six, and that Rhino fight ending TASM2. How are you happy with this?
~ The nerds who wanted Spidey part of the MCU ~
I hope all of you greedy virgins living in your mother’s basement are eff-ing happy! Because of the fact that none of you think that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is actually a great movie and made sure other people didn’t see it in theatres to help it’s box-office totals, you all let Spider-Man be given away to Kevin Feige and his army at Marvel Studios. I’m serious here! The future of one of my all-time favorite franchises (a merge of both Tobey and Andrew’s SPIDER-MAN franchises) is now getting taken away from me because you all are so greedy that you all won’t stop until you all get what you want. Sure, I still have PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and HARRY POTTER, but you all seriously destroyed what would’ve been a great cinematic universe. Just to let you all know, me and some of the people I grew up with are not okay with Spidey’s new fate as you guys claim the whole world of fanboys are excited about this. Enjoy your bloody victory!
IN CONCLUSION:
For anybody reading this message, this is really a 3-page intro to my predictions and visions as to what THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Cinematic Universe would’ve looked like including a 4-page summary of Phase 1’s story, a 5-page summary of Phase 2’s story, a 5-page summary of Phase 3’s story, a 4-page summary of Phase 4’s story, a 11-page summary of who would’ve played whom, and finally....a big fan art project of the entire cinematic universe along with a scanned drawn sheet as to which hero, villain, and character is where so nobody gets confused. Spider-Man is obviously in the middle above the title, the supporting characters are around the top part of the title, Spider-Man’s allies are on the left, the one-time villains are on the right, and The Sinister Six, Seven, Twelve, and Syndicate are on the bottom with an oval-shaped Gustav Fiers in the middle. The bottom left are The Sinister Six, Seven, and Twelve with those who weren’t developed having half or all of their face covered with the actors who would’ve played them and the bottom right are The Sinister Syndicate (or The Sinister Twenty) who don’t have any celebrity on them except for Solus on the bottom right corner. Most of the heroes and one-time villains have celebrities on them with the exception of Puma, the heroes of Phase 4 except for Madame Web, Man Mountain Marko, Scream, Anti-Venom, The Demogoblin, and the one-time villains of Phase 4. The reasons for those without the celebrity faces are simple: any male Native-American can become The Puma, Phase 4 along with it’s heroes and one-time villains take place in a more futuristic New York, any wrestler can play Man Mountain Marko, and while I know who should play Scream, Anti-Venom, and The Demogoblin....it’s just hard to add their faces onto my art especially considering that they have no human alter-egos. The former two do have human alter-egos in the comics, but not in terms of this project. Overall, this is my first fan art project, so it’s pretty amateurish! Seriously, it’s hard to have celebrity faces connect with the faces of these characters. Heck, when I tried coloring these people’s faces into their characters, they did not become recognizable. Plus, I made some mistakes that are too late to fix. I forgot to add The Lizard from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and Electro from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 onto the one-time villain side of my art because I was so focused on all the other villains that have yet to be explored especially considering that The Lizard and Electro have already been explored and have sealed their fate. I even had mistaken the villain Big Man for Montana of The Enforcers, both of which are on my project. Montana is on the one-time villain side and Big Man is on the bottom right as part of The Sinister Syndicate (or The Sinister Twenty), so once you see both, you’ll realize the similarities. Also, if anybody is goona ask....yes! That is my face on Morbius the Living Vampire. Since sometime before TASM2 was coming out, I imagined myself or my all-time favorite actor and one of my four biggest heroes Johnny Depp as an anti-hero version of the character. I am a screenwriter and actor still struggling to find some Hollywood representation. I’m not someone with a big ego nor someone who is self-absorbed like most wannabes, it’s just that Morbius the Living Vampire was one of my dream roles in terms of acting. I also have a picture of Emma Watson on the spot where Morbius’ love interest is supposed to go. Not that she is my top choice, but it’s that it’s hard to figure out which actress is perfect for the part especially when I have 16 women listed as the love interest in the “Who Would’ve Played Whom” summary. I just decided to use that one picture of Emma cause she had that serious pose like an actual movie character. I’m not expecting any of this to change anything cause it’s too late anyways, but the point of this project that I wanted to share with the world is what could’ve been an “amazing” cinematic universe. Sony would’ve been smart enough to think this through. Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige should’ve just let Spidey and his universe go. Andrew Garfield, Marc Webb, Sam Raimi, and Stan Lee should reconsider how they feel on the situation. And finally, all those comic book nerds should be ashamed of themselves. Regardless of how you feel on Spider-Man’s future in film, I hope those who are reading this will consider checking out my fan art project. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Cody Fairless-Lee
