The Amazing Spiderman trailer looks good but not amazing.

Over the past few days I have noticed rave reviews regarding the second full length trailer of The Amazing Spider-man, kids seem excited.
The 12 year olds must be going crazy on twitter and their comments are pretty off the wall silly

“Beautiful.”

“Epicness!!!!!!!!! “

“I JUST WEBBED MY PANTS!”

And my favorite comment I came across was …….. “With this and Avengers.. Batwho?”

Obviously I had to check it out for myself. I buckled down took some time to break down this trailer and it took me all but 5 minutes.
First, here is the quick run down from the movie studio regarding the film for those who don’t know.

“The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.”

Now, I am not going to break down scene by scene of this trailer because I am sure you have already seen it.
The first 5 seconds I thought to myself automatically this looked like the past 3 Spiderman films.
Peter Parker/ Spiderman is played by Andrew Garfield. To tell you the truth I am giving this guy a shot and its really tough to figure out this guy. In the movie The Social Network he played Eduardo Saverin, I guess he did ok. I personally knew nothing of Eduardo Saverin from anything when I watched the film but I did appreciate Garfield’s performance. Even though I thought of him as a cry baby. I just don’t know how that will transfer into a leading role of a super hero. He looks like a high school kid who has not showered in a while but I will go with it, can’t be worse than Tobey Maguire performance in Spiderman 3 right?

Back to the trailer, it is up tempo in which I like and there are multiple scenes that look dark and seem to have some grit to it.
We see Peter in multiple scenes with Gwen Stacy. Ok, Gwen Stacy played by Emma Stone, maybe the studio could of got somebody else but I understand she is the “It.” girl right now. She can act but man her voice is deep! I am excited to see the interaction with Uncle Ben and Peter. I do like the casting of Martin Sheen as uncle Ben.
Throughout the trailer most of the scenes are at night, of course they have to be. Peter has school in the morning!
Spidey is fighting crime and of course running from the law, getting the feeling we seen this too….
I think the Spider-man suit was good from the previous films. How much can you change? Honestly the suit looks cheap but maybe it supposed to look that way because he is a kid?
Also Curious how Rhys Ifans will play Dr. Conners. Ifans is a respected actor and is well versed. Conners and Parker had a close relationship and according to the trailer Dr. Conners takes no time in turning into The Lizard. You would think the transformation would take place in the second film of this reboot, what’s the rush? Oh well. Oops that may have been a spoiler…sorry.

What I am most concerned about is The Lizard. With all the technology and CGI looks like a little more effort was needed. Yes, the Lizard looks like Goomba from Supermario bros movie. In the geek community we hoped that It would not be the case. As of right now the Lizard is more of a Goomba. No white lab coat either? Really? The size of the Lizard is impressive but not necessary, huh maybe that is why no lab coat? I prefer the Lizard looking more like um I do know maybe a LIZARD!! The only reptile thing about this guys is the eyes! Now I am starting to get upset.

Overall the trailer looked good and I could really rip it but I want to see the movie and give it a shot. You would have to think Columbia pictures/Marvel Entertainment would be concerned about going head to head with The DARK KNIGHT RISES but either they are convinced the film will be great or they are just in it to sell toys.

And instead of being a 12 year old crying, "EPIC!!11!!1!" You're a 12 year old crying, "Dis suxz!"

Case and point, "I prefer the Lizard looking more like um I do know maybe a LIZARD!! The only reptile thing about this guys is the eyes! Now I am starting to get upset."

Yeah, because he doesn't have a tail, claws, scales, teeth...yeah no, just his eyes tell you he's part lizard, no other indication...Sarcasm by the way.

Im 20 and im excited for this. Even if only 12 year olds were excited......so what? Why does it have to effect you. I'll never understand why people like you feel the needto insult those who have a different view to yourself. Why does it matter. This article could have just been " Some people are really excited about the new spiderman trailer, im not as excited." Thats all that needed to be said.

Obviously your entitled to your opinion but the whole thing sbout you giving garfirld chance makes you sound like your some kinda important. If you can't figure out the guy how about you cjeck out his other films. Boy A and red riding are two independant films/mini serirs where gsrfiel shines.

It's a Lizard, not a freakin' Crocodile. I heard that Spidey's trying to stop The Lizard from reaching his final form (meaning full snout and all animal instincts) .. Movie looks AWESOME!

I think people should just wait to at least See the movie before they say how bad it is. Alot of people say that Garfield sucks as Spider-Man, but, the movie hasn't even came out yet. Sure you can base it off previews and pictures, but until you see the movie, you don't really know for sure. Everyone has their own opinion, and this is yours, but mine is that the movie looks really good, and i think it will be.

I think you're trying to be as fair as you can be, so it doesn't bother me that you teased us excited folk a little bit.

Here are some issues you brought up that I disagree on but that I'd like to discuss further:
1. it looks like the past 3 Spider-man films.
2. Eduardo Saverin came off as a cry baby
3. Spidey running from the law may have already been done

If I paraphrased you wrong, please feel free to correct me. So,

1. I disagree with the notion that the trailer resembles the Raimi series. Its clear that this movie will deal exclusively with Peter being in high school. That's already a lot different from what Raimi did. I don't think people give enough gravity to that detail. Beyond that we have much different cinematography, stylization, dialogue, tone, non-Elfman score (I know it sounds silly to say so, but I think the score really characterized those movies).

What Tobey Maguire did and what Andrew Garfield is doing immediately strikes me as different as well. Peter's actually inventing things in his basement, he even contributes to the creation of the Lizard somehow. He's attempting wit as both Peter Parker and Spider-man (the car thief, his banter with Gwen). There's actually a lot more to it than that and they've been talking about it in interviews these past two or three days, but I guess it wasn't in the trailer... Now I'm starting to see how one might not pick up on the big differences. Either way though, I don't understand how these movies look the same aside from the most basic points in the origin. This movie has a lot more going on in than that though, and that's my point. The parent side story doesn't seem at all to be this tiny little deviation like people keep insinuating it is. Not you, but people. On to point two.

2. Here, what I mean to convey is simply that I'm wondering how you concluded Eduardo Saverin is a bit of a cry baby. I mean, I know it's your opinion, but like, how did you conclude that? From what I saw, I think he had every reason to be as pissed off as he was in that moment. He got shafted pretty baddly . Whether Zuckerberg intended to or not (the movie version of Zuckerberg), he chucked his friend to the side even though Saverin was working his ass off to bring in capital. I dunno, I think that sometimes frustration is justified.

Beyond that, Saverin was a business savvy Harvard student. Peter Parker comes from a financially restricted family in Queens. The accents are different, the personality seems different, etc. I don't see any carry over from Andrew's performance in "The Social Network". Maybe he brought some sincerity into the mix, that's just Andrew's way (see "Boy A", "I'm Still Here", "Never Let Me Go", etc.)

3. You didn't make a real strong claim here, so I can't say "You're wrong!" But anyway, Peter's dilemma with the cops was hardly focused on in the first series. It was something that was thrown into the mix, yes, but overall I think that Peter's lifestyle, which was devoid of socialization and financial stability, is what had him down the most. The cops may have shot at him when he was fighting a big baddy, but not when he was just being regular thug fighting Spidey (which was never shown after the 1st Spider-man). Of course he had JJJ to worry about, but all he ever did was talk crap through his newspaper. Here, there's a full on manhunt that we actually get to see (emphasize the last 6 words there). Spider-man nearly gets arrested, and it's all tied to his love interest. That's a much different way of handling the situation.

So you're trying to tell us you have a problem with The Lizard being designed to look like the way the creator originally designed him? You're stupid.

Ditko designed him as a humanoid, and I'm damn happy that Marc Webb decided to give Lizard his original design. It's a nice retro throwback that I thought any Spider-Man fan would actually appreciate.

This move looks amazing. I know you can't judge a movie by its trailer but honestly that's what Marx Webb was intending to do, the circumstances of this movie is abnormal it was rebooted quick and about 70% were on board and this meant that the movie was going to struggle big time at the box office meaning they had to deliver a knockout punch trailer that would blow people away as guess what? It worked, you can say this movie will suck of this trailer and you can say this movie looks EPICCCCC! No one will stop you but just remember don't say it's gonna suck pureley based on the fact that it's a reboot or the 3D will give people headaches it makes you sound like you just can't let go of the old spiderman movies or your just a nolanite.
I respect your opinion but you just sound like you wanna NIT PICK everything bad about the trailer and satisfy your needs to prove this movie will suck.
