Tom Hollander Recalls Accidentally Receiving Tom Holland's Spider-Man Bonus For AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

British actors Tom Holland and Tom Hollander have very similar names, and the latter has now recalled accidentally being sent the Spider-Man actor's massive seven-figure bonus for Avengers: Infinity War...

When Spider-Man: No Way Home was released, Tom Holland spent a lot of time publicly pondering his future as Peter Parker. It felt like a clever negotiating tactic on the actor's part to ensure he'd secure an even more lucrative deal to continue playing the MCU's Spider-Man moving forward.

The move seemingly paid off because the actor is thought to have signed up to star in Spider-Man 4 and is expected to appear in the next two Avengers movies as well.

During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Pirates of the Caribbean star Tom Hollander revealed what it's been like to often be mistaken for his fellow Brit given the similarity of their respective names.

"Yes, it's been very difficult. 'Cause, you know, I was here first," the actor said with a laugh. "But he's enormously famous. Obviously, I don't get mistaken for him, but in non-visual contexts, I am mistaken for him all the time. So, like, talking to utility companies, they say, 'What's your name?' and go, 'Tom Holland?' because they've heard Tom Holland before. You go, 'No, it's Tom Hollan-der.'"

Hollander would go on to recall a huge mix-up which occurred when he and Holland were part of the same talent agency, revealing the actor's bonus for Avengers: Infinity War was inadvertently sent to him instead (needless to say, he didn't get to keep it).

"People in the accounts department of my agency got confused, and we were with the same agency, briefly. And it was a terrible moment," he says. At the time, Hollander was visiting his friend who was performing in a theatre and checked his emails in the interval to read, "'Payment advice slip - your first box office bonus for The Avengers.'"

"And I thought...I don't think I'm in The Avengers - and it was an astonishing amount of money - and it was not his salary," the actor explains. "It was his first box office bonus! He was 20 or something!" The actor didn't reveal how much the Spider-Man actor received but did confirm it was seven figures. In 2018, Avengers: Infinity War grossed a whopping $2.052 billion worldwide.

Check out the full interview in the player below (he talks about Holland at the 8:53 mark).

"All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character," Holland said of his Spider-Man 4 role last November. "Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing."

"I feel very protective over Spider-Man," Holland continued. "I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character."

Spider-Man 4 doesn't have a confirmed release date.

@KWilly - Yet he is hesitant to do Spider-Man 4 because he wants to "challenge himself." Tom do the next three and get paid moron.

@Thing94 - he will, what he's doing is just negotiating in public to put pressure on Sony and disney. It's classic, wee Hugh jackman for instance. Actors do this all the time, because it shows the companies that fans will cheer them, so they deserve money.
