As filming continues on James Gunn's HBO Max Peacemaker series, supporting cast members are still being added to The Suicide Squad spinoff.
Following the recent news that Elizabeth Faith Ludlow (The Walking Dead, Another Life) and Rizwan Manji (Goliath, Minority Report) have joined the project as characters named Keeya and Jamil, Deadline is reporting that Nhut Le (Comedy Central’s The Kroll Show; Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home) has signed on to play DC Comics supehero, Judomaster.
Several different characters have held this mantle in the comics, but it sounds like Le will be playing the original Charlton Comics incarnation of the hero, Hadley "Rip" Jagger.
In addition to John Cena as the title character, Peacemaker stars Danielle Brooks, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang and Christopher Heyerdahl.
Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we do know that the series is expected to explore the origins of Peacemaker, a man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.
Gunn is writing and directing the show, which was ordered to series last September. Cena's titular antihero will make his debut in The Suicide Squad, which is set to debut simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max this August.
