Newsarama chatted it up with DC's Senior Vice President of Sales Bob Wayne as well as Vice President of Marketing John Cunningham to talk on a number of things for the upcoming year. One of the things that was addressed was how big of a year it's going to be for Superman. Looking to capitalize on this summer's Man Of Steel, DC will be trying to generate sales for backlist properties by using the blockbuster as publicity. Much the same way as the did with the latest batch of Batman movies did. Cunningham called it, "best opportunity we've had to date," to push lesser known Superman titles and characters.

Another thing you can expect that is Man Of Steel related will be a tie-in comic for the movie. Most comic book movies are doing this nowadays, so it should come as no surprise that DC will look to cash in on this as well. According to Newsarama you can expect an announcement for the title next month sometime around ComicsPRO at the end of February. They should sell the Tie-Ins better. No serious long term fans read these, so they shouldn't be sold the same as a title that is read. I remember that back in the day, we had these mini comics we'd get with Big Macs and even with a Kid's Meal at KFC. THAT'S how they should promote them.

Finally!

But wait is it really a tie in to the movie? Hmm I don't think that's true cuz that sounds like it would be a mini series and I'm sure Snyder has said that this will be a new ongoing title

Yeah, I don't think this is the Snyder Lee book guys. If it was the preview art the Lee released would have had the same S as Cavill's suit.

There best opportunity to date?... Why don't they attach a comic book along with the DVD/Blu-Ray release. Probably would triple their sales.

Is this the same as the Snyder/Lee Man of Steel book? Because I thought that was a New 52 book.

I don't think this is related to the Man of Steel book that Snyder/Lee are doing. I think this is just a tie-in for the movie. Might be confusing tho having two Man of Steel titles on the CB stands.

I don't think the movie based comic book will be released in February... because this movie is very highly secretive and now they want to release a comic book giving away plot details of the movie ... most probably dc comic will hold the comic till the movie releases date ...

Lee is stuck in the 90s. But kids these days seem to think he's cool. Oh, well. Been there, done that
