More news on the final season of Smallville and its finale

And you may just be disappointed, and unsurprised, in regards to the mention of the Superman suit

Digital Spy had an update on the news with the last season of "Smallville", and in regards to whether or not Tom Welling's Clark Kent will be in the suit, producer Brian Peterson had this to say...

"I think those final images are going to be [part of our] discussions all the way up until the end," he suggested. "It's definitely in play in all the discussions and a major point in all the discussions."

However, he added: "Just like the glasses and the other Clark Kent identity, that identity [as Superman] will definitely... play a role in the finale."

Hmm. That sounds more like "we'll have to work much, MUCH harder to convince Tom Welling to wear the suit for more than the last thirty seconds and fly off" to me. The site says Peterson is uncertain we'll see Clark in action in his Superman costume, and fans of the show will most likely send out outraged comments faster than a speeding bullet (sorry, I couldn't resist) if the much-hyped moment that Clark is in the costume will be on the last minute we'll ever see on the show.

There's also a mention of whether or not Clark's engagement to Lois will translate into an on-screen wedding episode.

It's not really new news, but at least it's an update. Let me know what you guys think of this news.

Like I've said before, this show was never about Superman. But now that the show is ending,I would like to have at least the last episode as a full 1 hour & 24 minute(plus commercials)Superman one.Wearing his glasses and wearing the suit, and with Michael Rosenbaum back as Lex too.Maybe they should flash forward 5 or 10 years in the future in the final episode and end it that way.

The finale will concrete everything, if welling doesn't even give a damn to wear the suit for a couple episodes, then he should never ever ever ever ever play Superman in Film, because he still wouldn't wear the suit.

I'm just hoping that the "work much, MUCH harder to convince Tom Welling to wear the suit for more than 30 seconds" dovetails with the cast selection of Tom Welling for the Superman Movie. It would be a shame to have a suit made for 30 seconds does not seem cost effective and I can't imagine that one size will fit all. I wonder if we will be seeing an even more buff Tomm Welling as the season progresses (sigh)?

I would love to see what he can do with yet another incarnation of Clark Kent as well as Superman. I really don't see the werewolf (Joe M.) doing the part:(

i don't want him to be superman in the new movie, but all you welling lovers he doesn't deserve to wear the costume if he can't be arsed to wear it more than 30 seconds.

The finale episode is on the wedding day of Lois and Clark the military seel's them in the church as all hell break loose in Metropolis... It's up to the BLUR to stop them, and show the citizen's a symbol of hope... is he going to be in the suit???? Possibly... but I wouldn't hold your breath. lol

Just put the suit on the dog and be done with it

He won't and if he does, then it'll be the last 30 second - cheesy dramatic pose and fly off, then what does it matter after that? The studio got it's numbers just from the hype alone.

I personally don't plan to watch the finale cuz it's gonna be a rubdown without a happy ending.

Til Welling and or producers comes out and says Supes will be there, I call bullshit.

Oh, and to whomever said he doesn't deserve the film reboot? You're absolutely right. He doesn't deserve it.

they should have at least had him flying a few seasons ago, would have made for more action and better stories

Instead of wearing the suit, Welling will just give finger to the audience lol

[frick] Smallville and [frick] Welling!

What would be awesome is if at the end of the finale, Brandon routh wakes up and tells Kate bosworth all about this decade long, really crappy dream he had.

Dallas reference ftw!

Does anyone just get the feeling that the writers aren't quite sure how to make the jump into the suit?

If Tom Welling doesn't wear the suit at al. Then he will f**k up the whole serie

They have already proven they don't know where to take the show. It's been off the track for some time. Last season was somewhat tolerable. Doomsday was completely ridiculous. Ever notice how they only really reference the first few seasons? They're ignoring all the ridiculous storylines such as Lana getting powers/being possessed, Lex going crazy/being killed, Chloe getting a different power/being infected by Brainiac, and again, Doomsday...pretty said when they won't follow their own canon.
Reminds of "Heroes."

Hey! I just found out why Smallville has been on for 10 YEARS. There aren't enough of you hater's to get the show canceled. Lets see, oh yes! Oliver Queen even called you a bunch of arm chair bloger's. Who do nothing but, criticize
from your chairs. I believe everyone should have an opinion. But, you people are sounding like a broken record. If you don't like the show!!!! STOP WATCHING.. It's that simple. Have a nice day :)

What I don't understand is why all the Welling lovers want him to be Superman in the movie reboot. If Tommy Boy refuses to wear the suit in the TV show, why would he put it on for a movie?

Called $$$$$$ @ Knightstalker! : p

I don't get why everyone thinks he'll put the suit on before the last bit of the finale???

Since day one they have said it wont be till he flies off at the very end...

Thats how it was ALWAYS gonna play out!

Well screw them! If they 'f' this up, whick they will, we all should boycot all of them for life. Welling should have to work at Burger King to make a living. The only way it would work in our favor is after he flies off in the suit in the last minute is if months later a full blown movie followed with Welling actually being Superman. Now that would be a cool finally. Who am I kidding?

Wow. Talk about entitlement issues...the producers don't owe anyone anything.

If it was up to the creators of the show, as they stated many times, you'd NEVER see Superman, not even in the last episode. If you want to see Superman, there are five movies I can recommend to you. The producers came up with a different twist on Superman, and all you do is complain that it's not enough like your old Superman. Then you complain that the show isn't as good as it use to be, but you still watch. And people wonder why fanboys get so much grief and so little respect. Their entitlement issues are worse than those of sports fans.

i dont really understand how welling could play clark kent for the past 10 years and not feel any want or desire to don the suit. maybe he doesnt want to be looked at as the guy that played superman, like dean cain, or chris reeves, or even routh, but to have played clark kent for 10 years, and not play superman would just feel incomplete. i have patiently waited to not only see the suit, but to see his @$$ finally take flight. but NOOOOO... keep teasing us CW... way to please your fans.

That so called article took quotes out of context. They don't have all the details yet because they haven't written the finale yet it is as simple as that.

Hey, Lee, as if Welling has already made a handful of money anyway. Seriously, the guy isn't poor. Perhaps when he auditioned for the role they should have included it in his contract that he will have to suit up someday at the writer's discretion. You can't tell me that it would not have occurred to him that if he is going to protray a young Clark Kent, eventually he will be wearing the suit, especially after the show entered its 7th or 8th season.
