To begin, when they make holiday oriented episodes it is usually a fumble. A fumble may be recovered. “Harvest” nearly recovered. This Halloween “Smallville” version of “Village of the Damned” kind of showed the show’s silliness. It was good that Lois is getting filled in on all things Kryptonian, which is certified when Clark hands her his journal at the end. The not so good is the plot. The radical old world believers sacrifice story has been nearly as done as “A Christmas Carol.” Thus it is not the bright spot. Everyone being infected with blue Kryptonite to make Clark powerless was their first creative effort to de-power Clark effectively. It would seem they are predicated on making two or more powerless Clark episodes per season.

The Lex child clone is leaping forward in age as we’ve seen with two other characters in episodes past. Once more, the produces et. al. reuse an idea that was only good the first time. However, it was interesting that he is having Clark nightmares and shows signs of growing in to the Rosenbaum version of Luthor.
What seems to be distracting is this: who is the villain this season? Whom are they building up for the finale? Gee, seemed like it was Darkseid. Looks like Lex. Yes, they are figuring out a way to bring Lex back so he will fulfill his destiny as Clark’s archenemy. Now with two episodes and no movement on Darkseid, the audience is left wondering.

In all a decent episode for the silly premise upon which is was based. It forwarded Lois and Clark’s relationship. Lex is slowly returning. There have definitely been worse episodes and premises (cough, cough, Doomsday, cough). Here’s hoping that the next episode moves more towards the suit and defines the ultimate villain of the season.

Not the best of episodes, but still decent enough. Still liked the ongoing relationship between Clark and Lois.
