Pauley Perrette will voice Lois Lane in the upcoming animated DVD-movie Superman vs. The Elite. Based on the graphic novel "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?". The story appeared in Action Comics #775 as published by DC Comics in March 2001. It was written by Joe Kelly, pencilled by Doug Mahnke and Lee Bermejo, and inked by Tom Nguyen, Dexter Vines, Jim Royal, Jose Marzan, Wade Von Grawbadger and Wayne Faucher.

The tale focuses on The Elite, a team of super-powered antiheroes fronted by Manchester Black, who gained worldwide popularity for viciously killing their foes. Despite the acclaim and approval that the Elite are enjoying, Superman knows that they are wrong, and tension mounts between the Man of Steel and The Elite mounts until a televised showdown takes place on Jupiter.

Said Perrette about her Lois Lane portrayal in comparison to her NCIS role, "I think there are similarities between Abby and Lois, they're both very smart and confident and really good at their jobs. They're both really focused. Abby [her NCIS characer] just doesn't have a Superman."

TV Guide reports that Superman vs. The Elite, the ninth film from Warner Bros. Animation, will be available on DVD, Blu-ray, digital download and on demand. An exact release date has yet to be determined, but expect to see it before July's San Diego Comic-Con International.

Umm not sure about the Animation style to be honest but its one still so I can't judge too much. How ever I did enjoy the whole Elite story, it showed people that Supes does have brain and he's not stupid buffon how he's usually portrayed as when Batmans around but any ways fingers crossed this is good. I mean DC have been pretty consistent with there animated movies, its a shame that we can't say the same about there live action attempts. Marvel have some serious catching up to do in the animated movies department

I like the style, the fact that it's trying something new pleases me. (It looks quite good to me, too.) And the story was one of the Superman stories I've ever read completely; pretty nice IMO, so I can't wait to see more of it.

I've never read this story, but I really do wonder about DC animated films and the direction they are taking. They have so much material they can mine from, yet they pick this story??? They also stick with the same two characters--Batman and Superman, i guess they are safe bets...But, they should adapt some of the better stories into animated films. Let's see, instead of making Green Lantern:Emerald Knights, why couldn't they just adapt Secret Origins into a film, better yet Emerald Dawn or Blackest Night, or another well known story....Superman also has tons of interesting stories---Red Son, Earth-One,Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?, Birthright...The flash should have his own animated film, how awesome would Flashpoint be if it was an animated film? What about DC crossovers like Kingdom Come or Identity Crisis? ...Final Crisis in animated form would blow any other animated films out of the water if done right...C'mon DC, you guys are sitting on a gold mine...

I've read this story and it's awesome!!! I'm confused though, as WB/DC has so far tried to emulate the art style of the source material, and that does NOT look like Doug Mahnke art!! Maybe because the material is darker they're going for a lighter, more styliezed look. It doesn't look bad though, and I'd need to see it in mation and what the other desings look like.

This is the storyline where Supes gets jacked up by a guy with mental powers and he gets out of it by lobotomizing him through his eye with his heat and x-ray vision, right? I;m getting that one.

Ok so superman is my 2nd favorite comic character and all, but DCAU needs to start pushing different movies besides just him, bats and the JLA. Whatever happened to the Teen Titans movie they were gonna do? Both DC and Marvel need to start using some lesser known characters to the general public. They aren't well known cuz they don't get the proper exposure and they just keep piling on the popularity of characters that have been popular for eons. Change it up please.

So I see Supes has had a little work done on the ol' jaw. He's went for the Popeye look that is so popular with superheroes these days.

@KNIGHT3000, a trailer probably won't happen until after the premier of "Justice League: Doom", which will be happening shortly.

@Shadowmaster35, the reason why they are pushing Superman and Batman so frequently is because their videos sell so well. You need to keep turning out DTV's of those two franchises just to keep DC Animation's doors open.

I just looked at this image again. There are a few possibilities as to who is playing the role of Superman in this movie:

1. The Crimson Chin
2. Robert Z'Dar
3. The Tick
4. Popeye
5. Shaggy after eating steroid filled scooby snacks
6. Jay Leno

So they are doing Superman vs. the Elite when they should just do The Authority: relentless.
