Superman: Legacy actress Isabela Merced has revealed that she recently had a costume fitting and even tried on Hawkgirl's helmet.
Said Merced, "I did my fittings, and I tried on the Hawkgirl helmet. The paint job is impeccable … and I hope they finalized it. I don’t know. You never know with James Gunn. He could always change his mind last minute, and we would respect him for that.”
She also commented that her recent experience filming Madame Web led her to make sure to tell the costume designers that she needs extra "space in the butt area."
Merced stated, "You know what, I need a little extra space in the … butt area. Otherwise, you’re gonna get wedgies all day … No wedgies, please.”
Merced was officially cast as Hawkgirl on July 11, 2023. Since then there's been no word on which version of Hawkgirl she's portraying- there's three distinct versions, the Golden Age Shiera Sanders Hall, the Silver Age Shayera Hol (this version appears in the animated Justice League and JLU cartoons) and the more recent Kendra Saunders version (this is the version depicted by Ciara Renée in the Arrowverse).
Given that Kendra Saunders is typically depicted as Cuban, we're going to venture that it's likely this version of the superhero that Merced is portraying in Legacy.
Typically, the Shiera and Shayera versions of Hawkgirl have a helmet that features a more feather-oriented motif while the Kendra Saunders incarnation features a metallic helmet, typically comprised of the enigmatic Thanagarian Nth metal.

Additionally, Nicholas Hoult has been confirmed by Gunn to portray Lex Luthor in the film. Milly Alcock was also recently cast as Supergirl and is also expected (but unconfirmed) to appear in Legacy, as well.
The latest report on the film has the full main cast assembled in Atlanta for the first of what will undoubtedly be many table reads before filming gets underway.
Currently set for release on July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy is the first film in Gunn's reboot of the DCEU. Filming is expected to begin this Spring.
