A health official in Mexico says the producer of the Superman films of the 1970s and '80s is recovering at a hospital after being admitted in a state of disorientation and suffering facial and head injuries.

Ilya Salkind had been staying at a home near Mexico City and his friends reported him missing earlier this week.

Arturo Torres of the Morelos state medical office said Friday that the 63-year-old Salkind didn't have identification when he was admitted Sunday at a hospital in Cuernavaca.

Morelos Attorney General Pedro Luis Benitez Velez says Salkind was hurt while in Tepoztlan, a town about 55 miles south of Mexico City. It was unclear how he was injured.

Anastasia has been in contact with the caretaker of her father’s estate in Mexico, who has informed her that her father was in serious pain when he was discovered Thursday. Apparently the 64-year-old producer was missing for several days.

Police are reportedly starting an investigation on his disappearance, and Anastasia thinks he was kidnapped.

Salkind reportedly left his estate Sunday, telling his staff that he had to “handle some errands and get some dental work done.” But he didn’t return by Tuesday and a missing persons report was filed with Mexico City officials.

Salkind produced "Superman" in 1978 and two sequels. As well as "Supergirl" in 1984 and "The Adventures of Superboy" in 1988.

I hope he's gonna be okay.I don't know why anybody would go to that country knowing all the violence thats been going on for the past couple of years. Those drug lords & their cronies killing innocent people for no reason.I'll never step foot in that country unless I'm in an Army tank and am packing some serious heat. It's called,Kill or be Killed..And I Choose to live.I hope they find the people that did this to him and well..you can figure out the rest.
