Quick history

Born in Krypton, he was sent to Earth as an infant and raised by the Kents as Clark Kent. After his foster father's death, Clark was summoned by the memory crystal from the ship that carried him to Earth to construct a Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic Circle, where he discovered his true origin as a Kryptonian, his true name, and the nature of his abilities. In his early thirties,Clark became a reporter for the Daily Planet and became Superman, meeting fellow reporter Lois Lane whom he fell in love with at one time. He also encountered Lex Luthor, the greatest criminal mind on Earth, who became his main adversary.

Powers and Abilities

Energy Absorption
ability of an individual to absorb varying waves of energy into their body for a variety of purposes. In many cases, this energy can also be expelled for offensive attack or visual effect. Superman absorbs yellow ultraviolet radiation in order to replenish his Kryptonian cells.

Enhanced Vision
reflects an individual's ability to perceive things with greater acuity than a normal human being. Often, such an ability lends itself to a wider range of vision-based powers such as telescopic vision, infra red vision and x-ray vision, many of which can be used in conjunction with one another.

Heat Vision
ability to generate and fire a concentrated beam of super-heated thermal energy at an opponent.

Flight
ability to resist the pull of a planet's gravity and navigate through either outer space or a planetary atmosphere.

Hyper-Reflexes
application of super-speed, and denotes an individual's physical reaction time in correlation to their body movement. This power is almost always involuntary, though some individuals may have trained their body to such a degree, allowing them greater control over their reflexes.

Invulnerability
ability to withstand any amount of physical damage, pressure, or harmful force of any kind, causing little if any harm or pain to the individual gifted with this power.

Superhuman Durability
represents an individual's ability to withstand physical harm.

Superhuman Stamina
represents an individual's physical heartiness and their ability to function without tiring or undue strain.

Superhuman Strength
ability to lift and/or press volumes of mass far in excess to that normally possible for a human being functioning in Earth gravity.

Super-Speed
ability to move at a rate of acceleration and maximum speed in excess to that of normal optimal human capacity.

i enjoyed routh as superman he did a good job of capturing the essence of supes. it was the story, action(lack of), and director that i hated. but it does have one of the best super hero trailers to date imo. so i dont really know how to vote on this one.

Routh was a good Superman. The script was stale. The cinematography stunning. Brandon Routh couldn't just do things that wasnt in the script. I would like to see him return but that won't happen. Under Snyder and Nolan he would without a doubt do a brilliant Superman. Rick Malambri or Henry Cavill is the best choices!

I voted "NO" and here is why: You people keep putting all the blame on the director and script and though I do agree they deserve MOST of the blame, I still don't see Routh as being free of all blame either. If you're going to blame the director and writers then that lame-excuse should go for EVERY actor in Hollywood.

People keep on making up excuses for Routh being a bad actor. Let's look at the fact of the matter here- In Superman Returns he did no real acting. Acting comes from the DIALOGUE. Routh had little to almost NO dialogue= He just stood around in a Superman suit for a nearly 3 hour film and just smiling for the camera. He didn't act. But in most other roles where he DOES act, he sounds stale. My friend saw that Scott Pilgrim movie and said himself that Routh when he talked, sounded just like he did in Superman Returns- very monotone.

Maybe Routh doesn't deserve ALL the bashing he gets but IF that were the case- then he certainly doesn't deserve all the PRAISE he gets either. Like i said earlier- he did NO real acting in the film, so when people start praising him as a "great Superman" and this and that that I've read on CBM, then that is just lame. You people get mad when we bash Routh, yet you people praise him as if he was the best.

Fact remains- Routh sucks. He'll never get to wear the suit again except maybe on Halloween.

Joe Manganiello looks promising as Superman and I can't wait.

Also- WIthout even having to do any real acting, he made tons of money, got to wear the Superman suit (though he didn't deserve it) and got recognition from people as being Superman.

So I still don't see all the sympathy for the guy. Oh "boo hoo" he won't be Superman again. Cry me a god damn river. He had his shot. Time to move on people.

he was a great superman and i would like him to return (no pun) although it ain't happening. he must be given a chance to redeem supes. he must be given a bigger role so we can judge him properly. in returns he barely spoke...

I thought the purpose of a news article was to tell us things we didn't know. @LP4, You're almost absolutely right. However, dialogue is only one facet of acting. You neglected to consider blocking (knowing your physical position on the set) and stage (or screen) presence.
LP4
LP4 - 1/29/2011, 9:58 AM
@knightstalker- Hahaha! Ur right! Screen Presence which Routh had NONE of lol. Damn even that jimmy olsen guy upstaged routh in every single scene. In his cameo in "zac and miri make a porno" routh...AGAIN was upstaged this time by that lame guy- justin long lol. Routh sucks. And damn I forgot about position on set. Routh just stood in place the whole film not doing or saying anything, so maybe he nailed that one LOL.

@Denn1s- Exactly, Routh BARELY spoke. He sucks. I want an actual actor this time. Singer admitted in 2006 that he only chose Routh for his "uncanny resemblance to reeve" rather than for any actual acting talent (or lack thereof)

I think people need to stop making these pity articles for Routh. Angelus made one a few moths back, BEGGING for routh to come back.

Routh has even moved on himself. Time to look forward to seeing the TRUE Superman on screen this time- manganiello, caville, hammer any of them are welcomed

@LP4 - I've never begged for anything in my entire life. I simply wanted Routh to Return. You're such a sillypants. I feel I must set things straight here: Everyone on CBM knows my opinion about Routh but I mention it everytime I can because I think anti-Rouths are funny, such as you =) Sillypantser!

@Bane- SHUT THE [frick] UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE. I never complained in my comments I simply responded with my personal opinion on routh. Angelus and Denn1s posted their opinions, so did I. Ur only getting ur panties in a twist because I happen to not like routh. THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS [frick]ING SITE IS TO RESPOND TO THE ARTICLE AND I DID. But ur just always attacking me. The worst I said was that people needed to move on and that is true- IT HAS BEEN 6 years and routh aint returning. If ur so butthurt about routh not returning u shouldn't even see the new film. UR the poor excuse of a superman-fan, always attacking people just cuz they dont love routh like u. My comments weren't even mean towards anyone on this site u asshole. Ur just picking fights now and I am warning u TO BACK OFF.
LP4
LP4 - 1/29/2011, 4:31 PM
@Bane- read my comments again u asshole. I attacked no one. Ur attacking me because I happen to think routh isn't that good of an actor- WELL THAT IS MY [frick]ING OPINION and attacking me for it is so [frick]ing childish.

But I was also being more diplomatic- I said in one part of my comments that routh didn't deserve ALL the bashing. I was trying to be a little more fair but I too have a right to my own opinion on routh. And for the record- Knightstalker also commented that this article
should tell us stuff we don't know.

If I dont think routh is a good actor then that is my right as an American to say it. I understood when u attacked me before cuz ya I would tell people they
weren't true fans- well I STOPPED DOING THAT, I am being nicer to people on here and again- trying to be
more diplomatic about routh, UR the one starting to
judge when u said that "no true superman fans
should.ever support a cgi suit" THAT is u judging who
are and aren't "true fans" u [frick]ing hypocrite. So
LEAVE ME ALONE.

Psh and ur calling ME a kid. Most of ur comments the grammar sucks.

hmmmmm, I am goin to make first comment on this site, because I have been holding back, so sick of all the bickering that goes on in this site. People just make your opinions and stop being arses, that is what wrong with this world, it's what I say that matter mentality and it makes me sick to my stomach!

My opinion on Routh, was I think he did Reeve's Superman justice, but Singers movie itself sucked in whole. His story was dead-on dreadful and I really do feel bad for people who was expecting more then what they got. The "child" is Superman's was the dumbest thing I have ever seen in movies of any kind and I have had my share of them.

As for sayin Routh sucks as an actor is silly too, people just see actors in general as that ONE role they played in a pass performance and pretty much lock on that character that they had played ni the pass and that is all they see, I for one am like that too, so I do understand.

hotkarl8083 - 1/29/2011, 11:00 PM
@thewitness - are all of your articles pointless? You seem to just watch a couple movies and type up the obvious. A child could guess that superman has all of those powers by watching a single movie.
