I don't understand how so many people liked it. Superman has barely a hero in the movie . . . and that brings a tear to my eye.

The biggest criticism one can make about Man of Steel is that Earth would have been far better off had Kal-El died on Krypton.

The destruction was embarrassing to watch (it was too much for even Michael Bay standards), and Amy Adams was a horrible Lois Lane.

This whole film just brought me down. It could have been so much better.

These guys are lame. What do they base their opinions on and why should we trust them? Just because someone has the power of the press behind them doesn't mean they know anything about the creation of cinema, storytelling or comic books. Everyone's opinion is valid? Some more than others...

I love how people praise a critic who gives a good review, but the second one gives a bad review, fanboys go nuts and say they don't know what they're talking about and basically claim their opinion invalid.

Saw Man of Steel...and whilst I liked it, it is far from the classic that many people make it out to be. Maybe its just my bias towards Spidey, but I thought the Amazing Spider-Man was overall a stronger film, which many people on this site will scream at me for, but hey, that's my opinion.

@Benjamitesandwich you must not read a lot of superman comic book or you just don't known the character at all it so Much orgion for superman its not funny.

This the only superman came close staying true to the comic books and I'm and others people we our very happy what they did with the movie'so do some homework and understand why people like me love the movie the way we do.

MoS had better action but Amazing Spider-Man was a far better film in almost every possible way except action and score.

@ninjahulk

I love how I make a criticism, and the first backlash is "You must not read a lot of Superman comic book or you just don't known the character at all . . . "

I've been reading comic books since I was six years old. I praise a good CBM when I see one, and believe me, I want EVERY CBM to be good. Why? Because then we get more. The thing is, I wanted Man of Steel to be good. My expectations were so crazy high for it, that when I realized it hasn't a cohesive film, it was like a million bricks of disappointment dropped down on my head.

And remember, Superman still has the ideals that make a super hero a true hero. I only saw that for the first half of the movie until it was ditched in the second half.

The reason why Critic people like this hate the movie because they wanted the movie to suck like Superman return and it didn't; so the mos it punch them in the face and they didn't see it coming.

So now they trying to found all type of reason for the movie to look bad,and that the case why is Superman is the number one movie in the WORLD ?

Spiderman was a good movie but it always puts me to sleep with its slowwwww pacing. MOS for me is light years better than Spiderman for this viewer....i hope World War Z is good.

@ninjahulk

A critic's job is to criticize a movie. It's smart judgement on every aspect of a film: the acting, writing, directing, special effects, score, etc. A movie gets a BAD review when the critic WANTS a movie to be good. If the critic wanted a movie to be terrible, then I can honestly say the review wouldn't be. This is why critics are hired on the basis of their judgement--to have zero expectations for every movie they go into.

It's called having an open mind.

-Critics slams movie that you despise
"Told you it sucks, even critics agree."

LOL @ buttsore fanboys killing an honest review.

Listen up dummies, their opinion was well argued and presented. Their opinion is in accord with consensus critical opinion. Their opinion is better supported than the typical "OMG the action and explosions were so awesome" posts I've read here.

I usually find these guy's reviews funny..and this one was no different BUT they clearly didn't even watch this movie properly given the questions they ask about it. Plus the call backs to the other movies and mentioning the comics when it's clear none of them have ever read one diminishes their points massively.

" Why couldn't it be more like Superman 2..when he...kills a de-powered Zod just for the hell of it..."
Ryagan

@ninjahulk I can barely understand your comment, but I'll try to make sense of it. I agree with Benjamitesandwich. I've actually read a few Superman comics, such as Birthright and All-Star, I love the first two movies with Christopher Reeve, and I'm an avid watcher of Smallville. (Yes, I'm aware that it starts off largely as a teen drama, but it's an interesting interpretation of Clark Kent's character.) This is, by far, the worst portrayal of Superman that I've seen.

Benjamitesandwich is right when he says that Earth would've been better off if Kal-El had just died on on Krypton. Zod would have never come to Earth, and thousands, if not millions, of people wouldn't have died. Also, the final battle scenes were less coherent than the cesspool that is the final battle in Transformers 2.

And what about Superman's character? You say this follows his comic book character, but I wholeheartedly disagree. He didn't bother saving anyone except for Lois Lane. He carelessly had huge battles in places where thousands of lives could easily be lost. That's not the Superman that I know.

Love Plinkett and his review of the Prequels! Seeing Man of Steel again this weekend! Idiocracy is hilarious! Especially the first 10 minutes! "!"

You guys have to remember that at one point Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was ALSO the number one movie in the world. (I am by no means comparing this movie to the horrid Transformers sequel. I'm just saying that having the "number one in the world" spot means absolutely nothing).

@Benjamitesandwich that true my friend but they need to stop being hard on film that is a good movie.

Yeah superman was not that hero we all known in the film but what i got from the film and music (because music talk)is that he was understand what he got to do and that was great; and plus at the end of the film you hear the true theme song for superman and that was telling us when next one come out he ready and he known what he have to do now is to become that hero.
The human in this film have not earn superman trust yet so he have to prove that he is the hero for them and that when you get the true superman in the next one or the third one but we will see.

Yea [frick] critics. Critics call TASM a good movie when its worse than Spider-Man 3.

Man of Steel is by 2nd favorite Superman movie.

Superman 1 has a better story than Man of Steel I believe.

I listened to Nostalgic Critics's Man of Steel review and it sucks. He kept talking about it like this is Nolan's film and didnt mention Snyder until halfway in the interview.

New flash: this is Snyder's film not Nolan's.
