Live-Action TEEN TITANS Series In The Works With NIGHTWING Set As Lead

With Supergirl in development and about to be offered to networks, DC Comics and TNT are teaming for Titans, a new series which will see fan favourite character Dick Grayson (a.k.a. Nightwing) taking the lead of the superhero team know as the Teen Titans! Read on for details...

Deadline reports that DC Entertainment will continue to expand their small screen universe with the addition of Titans, a new cable series coming to TNT. As of right now, it's apparently awaiting the green light while the network makes some behind the scenes changes, but Academy Award winning writer Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend) penned the pilot along with Marc Haimes (The Last Word). The site adds that, "Titans revolves around the eponymous group of young Super Heroes-to-be from the DC Universe. The action series centers on Dick Grayson (probably best known for his alter ego as Robin), who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others."

There had been rumours that Nightwing might appear in Arrow, not to mention talk of the character playing a pivotal role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It now seems reasonably safe to assume that Dick Grayson won't be showing up in either of those, but the fact that he's getting a leading role in his own TV series is still pretty exciting, wouldn't you agree? The fact that he'll be leading his own superhero team with characters like the ones mention above is also a pleasant surprise, but whether the focus will mainly be on him or the Teen Titans as a whole remains to be seen. Be sure to share your thoughts on this news in the usual place!

It's a little disappointing that it's not a film, but a show for them could work just as well (unlike Supergirl, in my opinion).

Sounds cool, but I'm not liking this DC live action multiverse. Everything is pretty much a stand alone project

BADASS!!! Nightwing should have been live action years ago.

I am sure a "realistic" Titans show would be awesome!

But once you look at it, soon these comic book properties will fully take over television just as they nearly did film. The Walking Dead is a great example.

DC could have made this all one universe, now I gotta keep up with all these different universes, ugh

Interesting. If anyone remembers, Akiva Goldsman was actually hired to develop a Teen Titans movie way back in 2002. The last update we had from him was early 2012. Surprised he's still involved. I guess he stuck with it.

But they must be stepping up their budget with all this super-powered character television series releasing. The Flash, Supergirl, Constantine, and now this.

I really wanted to see Nightwing in the live action DCU (and after thinking it over, I would have been completely down with Adam Driver), but again, this works too.

So thats why Nightwing won't be in Arrow.....Unless they connect this to Arrow/Flash....

It seems like Beast Boy would be too expensive to do. So would Cyborg. I like the idea though. It means we could maybe get some Batman cameos.

Wow now thats exciting! Ive always thought Teen Titans would work as a tv show. But I really wondering which if any shows will be connected to the DCCU. On paper Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, and Teen Titans could connect to the movie universe if they wanted them to.
