"It’s a true action comedy" - Collider
Collider was fortunate enough to be invited to a special screening of footage from Paramount Pictures upcoming live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. One of the film's producers, Andrew Form, introduced the footage, and cautioned that even though the film opens in three short weeks it is not complete. We'll assume that the VFX crews are working at a fever pitch to get the CGI as close to perfect as possible.

Below, is a description for 8-minutes of footage. This is the first chunk of footage that was shown. It is light on spoilers as Collider tends to keep things vague with material of this nature.
“It’s 2014, it’s New York City, there’s a lot of crime in the city and Shredder, the leader of the Foot Clan, they are responsible for all the crime.  The movie opens, Megan Fox who plays April O’Neil, she is investigating a crime that has happened at the docks at the Brooklyn Navy Yards, and you think she’s this, you know, journalist and then you see the trail who is her cameraman and he yells at her and says, ‘April, we’ve gotta go.  We’ve gotta get to work!’  And then you cut and you realize that April O’Neil is a lifestyle reporter who wants to be a journalist.”

“She is covering a gala that we shot – you guys are all from New York so we can say our locations, at Cipriani’s – and Eric Sachs who’s played by William Fichtner is giving this big speech, and Eric Sachs and April O’Neil’s father worked together 15 years ago.”

“This is the scene right after the speech Eric Sachs has given that really inspires April to really try and work harder at her reporting because she just doesn’t want to do the lifestyle stuff.  She really wants to be a journalist.”

The next portion of footage featured the subway platform scene that you've briefly scene in the trailers and the television spots. No real details were provided, but Collider noted the "humor and the incredible detail on the turtles." While some have not embraced the new look of the Turtles, Collider had this to say, "every single second the turtles were on screen, they were downright fascinating to look at."

Of all the Turtles, Collider seemed most impressed with Michelangelo (portrayed by Noel Fisher). They say, "The way he moves, his facial expressions and the intonation of his dialogue makes his material remarkably natural and truly laugh-out-loud worthy."

The last bit of footage included the action sequence on the snowy moutainside. Collider describes it as "a full-blown race down a mountain yet the turtles are constantly dishing out zingers, and that’s a big part of the reason the material is fun to watch."

The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES directed by Jonathan Liebesman ("Wrath of the Titans"), and produced by Michael Bay ("The Rock"). The script was written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, based on characters created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The cast includes: Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Danny Woodburn as Splinter, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Will Arnett as Vernon and William Fichtner as Shredder. It lands in theaters August 8, 2014.

Yeah, the movie looks wicked. I'm actually excited. It's still not something I'm going to rush to the theaters to see, but if I have the time, sure. Seems like a lot of fun.
