Paramount Pictures have released a new featurette for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and as well as giving us an interesting look at how the 3D effects were achieved in the Michael Bay produced movie, we also see some new shots of Splinter battling it out with Shredder!

The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
 


Starring Megan Fox, Pete Ploszek, Johnny Knoxville, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Alan Ritchson, Danny Woodburn, Tony Shalhoub, William Fichtner, Will Arnett, and Whoopi Goldberg, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be released on August 8th, 2014.

This movie really doesn't excite me. It looks like the love child of TASM2 and TF4. Probably seeing Guardians again this weekend, depending on the reviews for this.

From all the reviews I read the 3D & visuals alone all suck on this movie. It seems it's getting hard for studios to live up to what Disney & Marvel are doing.

I'll see it. CGI looks decent. May see "Guardians of the Galaxy" again and "Get on Up" before I see this though.

Urm, I really don't think I like Splinter's design in this. He looks so weird, and not in a good way. Also "taunting the audience with fake delicious pizza" isn't the worst concept of using 3D in a movie I've seen, but it's far from the best.

That being said, if they'd atually hand out a free slice of pizza with every ticket I might feel more inclined to give this a try.

When the original film came out (1990) they handed out plush turtles to all us kids. Good times.

3D is crap! last two movies I drove an extra 15 min to go to a theatre that has a non 3d showing.

People talk a lot of shit about 3D (it is basically a crass cash grab, at the end of the day) but I'll say this much for it - it's definitely reduced the amount of quick-cut, shaky cam horse shit in films. Compare Batman Begins' action to the Dark Knight Rises' (setting aside overall quality, for a moment) - Batman Begins' fights are nearly unwatchable, but with the advent of 3D, Nolan was forced to hold the goddam camera still for five seconds, and the results are significantly less seizure-inducing. Liebesman's previous films suffered not only from rancid scripting, but from a jittery camera style that made even the dumb stuff positively joyless. Hopefully filming for 3D makes his action scenes at least enjoyable.

I'm still gonna catch this but I have to agree that the more I see the worse it looks. That scene from the trailer where 2 of the turtles are on a roof deflecting what looks like missiles with their weapons looks terrible. The look stiff and clunky. Not to mention the CGI, which looks less and less impressive with every view.

If they are focusing on the 3D it is likely because they are trying to convince the audience to see the film in 3D - which cost more. They are probably worried about how badly this will flop...

The thing I liked better in the TV show than the movies, was that the foot soldiers were robots. You could stab them, cut off arms, legs, heads, and it didnt matter. With human foot soldiers, leo and raph are out of luck because they would be too violent with their weapons. I assume that like all the previous movies, every single fight scene involving raph and leo will consist of a brief clash of weapons ending with a punch or kick to the face.

Nolans fight scenes in TDKR were a slight improvement from the ones in Batman Begins. Inception showed the guy has issue shooting action fight scenes, it's not because he had to shoot for 3D.

Right now, the film stands at 44% at RottenTomatoes. Somehow, we should make T-shirts that say "Megan Fox Was Right".
