THE FLASH Director Andy Muschietti Confirmed As "Top Choice" To Helm BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD

Following some online rumors, we now have confirmation that The Flash director Andy Muschietti is DC Studios' "top choice" to helm Batman: The Brave and the Bold...

Speculation began to mount that The Flash director Andy Muchietti might be in line to helm Batman: The Brave and the Bold after the filmmaker gave a very interesting response to being asked if he had a "take on Batman" during an interview, and rumors soon swirled that he was a "lock" for the project.

Now, THR has confirmed that Muschietti is indeed DC Studios' "top choice" to direct the movie... but nothing is set in stone just yet.

According to the trade, the project still doesn't have a completed script (Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson is apparently not working on the movie after all), so there's "no formal commitment from the filmmaker — until one materializes post-writers strike."

The trade also seems to think that there is a good chance Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña will stay on as Jaime Reyes in the DCU going forward, and may even appear in the planned Booster Gold TV series.

As for Ezra Miller, their future as Barry Allen still seems to be up in the air, but THR does mention that a lot of money was spent to focus the film's marketing campaign on Batman (Michael Keaton) and Supergirl (Sasha Calle) while the troubled star sat on the sidles.

Miller is expected to attend the premiere on June 12, but the screening is being promoted as a “fan event," which means stars walk the carpet but answer no questions from journalists.

Mushietti has two very average films back to back...It 2 and now Flash(I've already seen it so not going off of net reviews)...doesn't give much hope for a daddy Bat movie which I fully expect to be campy.

@jst5 - Hope to [frick] it's not campy. That'd only empower the Battinson franchise. We need the main Batman to be perfect, Dark but with fantasy elements. Y'know like the real-assed Batman from the comics and video games and cartoons and shit. Just give us a Batman that we can recognise as Batman. Not some radical spoof-like Adam West or George Clooney revival.

@ObserverIO - I have no problem with Robert Pattinson as Batman, he did a good job and he looked the part. BUUUT...the story was a jumbled mess and the characters showed to be a challenge for some of the cast due to the overall classic noir themes. However, George Reeves' Gotham is the closest we've ever come to a comic book accurate Gotham. Sadly we'll never see it utilized to it's full potential due to WB's obsessive need to recapture the dying spark of Christopher Nolan's particular vision.

Feel like they were always gonna get a director-foe-hire guy for Gunn’s Batman, especially with Reeves already doing a very singular take on the character at the same time, so not too surprised. Just hope they can get more interesting voices for their other projects

Regardless of how Flash turns out in the coming weeks, it's pretty much an open secret. It's better that Muschietti signs on for this since like Snyder and BvS, it's obvious he wanted to make a Batman movie.

Bets on villains? I'll say Man-bat and the league of assassins.

@MCUKnight11 - Steve Buscemi to play Dr. Langstrom. His face can be the perfect base to create Man-Bat.

@MCUKnight11 - In Batman and Son (and in the Son of Batman animated adaptation) the League of Shadows employs Langstrom to create an army of Man-Bats for them. That would be awesome to see.

Muschietti is an ok choice. Nothing to get too excited for but not bad either.

Would be much more interested to see Drew Goddard take the helm of this. Isnt he already a part of the DCU writers room?

@ELAYEM - he’s my choice too. He’s already in the fold and his work speaks for itself.

Boring ass choice.

Would gladly take someone like Drew Goddard. He’s already in James Gunn’s DVU writers room to map out the overarching story of the DC Universe. His Daredevil work is damn good, he’s an avid comic fan/reader, and Bad Times at the El Royale is an underrated gem that pops visually, plot, and dialogue wise

He also knows how to world build very, very well.

@GhostDog - Goddard has had such poor luck with CBMs, lol. He left Daredevil early on for what looked like a huge gig, Sinister Six. In the Sony leaks, his version was a team up between the six and Spider-Man in the Savage Land against a symbiote invasion. Then the Disney deal happened and it got squashed.

But no worries, a couple years later, Marvel hires him for X-Force to follow up the big success of Deadpool 2. What could possibly go- and then the Disney acquisition happened, and it was squashed. Again.

Goddard attached to a DC movie would be the universe's way of saying Disney is buying the DC IP off Warner Discovery, lol.

nah

@Spawnnn - I think so. Well directed and Goddard deftly maneuvers an unconventional narrative while playing with time and with points of view. It’s a cool neo noir for me.

It 2 and Flash were heavily studio handled, whereas in It 1 he had much more creative freedom which Gunn seems to opt for, so this seems like a very interesting choice.

I liked “It Chapter 1” a lot, Chapter 2 was pretty mid. Haven’t seen The Flash yet, so I can’t speak on that. Where things stand right now, he’s not a director that necessarily gets me excited. I’d be more into names like Drew Goddard, Chad Stahelvski, or Darren Aronofsky. But we’ll see what happens.

@LeonNova - I actually prefer Chapter 2, but Chapter 1 is definitely better.

Got back from The Flash it's pretty good I actually enjoyed it. Michael Keaton was great but I'll definitely say Ezra Miller did fantastic in this movie but having said that they should still recast. It was overhyped by WB but ultimately still a good movie with some wonky cgi at several times.

As far as whether I think Andy Murschettì directing brave and the bold I'd say he's a good choice based on how he handled Keaton

I'm interested in Damien Wayne casting. From everything we know thus far...Time and time again they have been steering clear of a Kid Robin for decades within live action movies
