Speculation began to mount that The Flash director Andy Muchietti might be in line to helm Batman: The Brave and the Bold after the filmmaker gave a very interesting response to being asked if he had a "take on Batman" during an interview, and rumors soon swirled that he was a "lock" for the project.
Now, THR has confirmed that Muschietti is indeed DC Studios' "top choice" to direct the movie... but nothing is set in stone just yet.
According to the trade, the project still doesn't have a completed script (Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson is apparently not working on the movie after all), so there's "no formal commitment from the filmmaker — until one materializes post-writers strike."
The trade also seems to think that there is a good chance Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña will stay on as Jaime Reyes in the DCU going forward, and may even appear in the planned Booster Gold TV series.
As for Ezra Miller, their future as Barry Allen still seems to be up in the air, but THR does mention that a lot of money was spent to focus the film's marketing campaign on Batman (Michael Keaton) and Supergirl (Sasha Calle) while the troubled star sat on the sidles.
Miller is expected to attend the premiere on June 12, but the screening is being promoted as a “fan event," which means stars walk the carpet but answer no questions from journalists.
