The Flash has started rolling out in theaters overseas (you can check out our review here), and we're taking a closer look at some of the Scarlet Speedster's solo movie's most notable moments and surprises.
Obviously, if you haven't seen the film yet, major spoilers follow.
During production, reports did the rounds that both Henry Cavill (Superman) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) were set to appear, but we later heard that their scenes had been cut. Well, Cavill is nowhere to be seen (we catch a glimpse of his Man of Steel from a distance on a TV screen), but Gadot does appear for a cameo shortly after the opening action sequence.
Diana shows up to lend a hand to Barry and Ben Affleck's Batman, using her Lasso of Truth to pull them up from the side of a bridge. We then get a repeat of a Joss Whedon Justice League gag as Flash and Bats spill their guts (Bruce admits that he should be using his wealth to combat poverty, and Barry implies that he's still a virgin).
The scene is... not great, to be honest, and we can't help but feel Wonder Woman could have been utilized a lot better.
Have you been to see The Flash yet? If not, do you plan on checking it out this weekend?
"Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash features Barry Allen traveling back in time in order to change events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to help. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian…albeit not the one he’s looking for.
Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"
The Flash is produced by Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco, with a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and a screen story by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein and Joby Harold, based on characters from DC. Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Double Dream/a Disco Factory production of an Andy Muschietti film.
