Last May, The Flash star Ezra Miller (who uses they/them pronouns) was charged after allegedly stealing liquor from the house of one of their neighbours in Vermont. Deadline is reporting that the actor's plea for a reduced sentence of trespassing was accepted today, meaning he will only need to pay a $500 fine.
However, Miller also has to serve one year on administrative probation, though that doesn't necessarily mean the controversial actor is heading to jail if he commits any further crimes during that period.
Superior Court Judge Kerry A. McDonald-Cady told the actor, "You'll be on administrative probation for one year for the unlawful trespass that you’ll be pleading guilty to. If you complete that probation successfully and the probation is closed and discharged, count 1 will remain dismissed."
"However, if there’s a violation of probation that was filed that a court found probable cause for, the state could refile the count 1 burglary."
As part of the plea deal, Miller has agreed to 41 conditions, which include no drinking, random drug tests, and a commitment to continue seeking mental health treatment.
Miller's attorney has since responded to the sentencing by saying, "Ezra Miller pled guilty this morning to a misdemeanour unlawful trespass in Vermont Superior Court and accepted the conditions imposed by the court."
"Ezra would like to thank the court and the community for their trust and patience throughout this process, and would once again like to acknowledge the love and support they have received from their family and friends, who continue to be a vital presence in their ongoing mental health."
It's unclear what's happening with the other allegations that Miller is facing, but this almost certainly won't have any sort of impact on Warner Bros.' plans to release The Flash in theaters this June.
Despite that, Miller isn't expected to continue playing the Scarlet Speedster beyond this movie, though there has been some chatter online that they may factor into Warner Bros. and DC Studios' future plans in some capacity. We find that hard to believe, but only time will tell what the future holds in store for this iteration of the Fastest Man Alive.
The Flash is set to be released in theaters on June 16.
