After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only "meta-human" who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion - and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won't be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become... The Flash.

That dude should be playing Barry Allen,he looks like the comic book character.
Blonde guy, lean & athletic it seems. He's more Barry than Grant Gustin.

Some people don't care about hair color & such but to me it's being true to the comics & that's very important.
Too bad Grant doesn't due his hair blonde. Also wish on Arrow he would grow a full goatee like GA in the comics.

I think this interview confirms that at mone point in time, we will see Reverse Flash onscreen. They might being going down the New 52 path with their movie properties.

hopefully he's just one of Eobard's ancestors. I was relieved when Arrow made the real Merlyn out to be Tommy's father

what Smallville did with Lex worked for a ton of reasons, but none of those reasons apply for Arrow or Flash.

Really looking forward to this tv show.

I'm hoping it'll stand out from the rest of the tv shows based on comics, except for Constantine and The Walking Dead.

@soforizo: "There's were lots of things to dislike in Smallville, but the Lex and Clark relationship wasn't one of them."

Agreed! (At least, until they dragged that plotline through the mud endlessly before having Clark decide that Lex was evil arbitrarily and end their friendship. But the germ of the idea, and its initial execution, was a good one.)

Besides, @KINGPEN266, there's precedent for the Flash and Zoom being friends in their civilian identities; they seem to be mixing Thwane with Hunter Zolomon, the next-gen Zoom that Wally West fought near the end of Geoff Johns' run on the character.

The whole point of Zolomon, his whole motivation as a character, is that he was friends with the Flash, but the Flash didn't help him when he felt he needed it the most (he wanted Wally to go back in time and stop him from being paralyzed by Gorilla Grodd)... and when he tried to do it himself using the Cosmic Treadmill, the damn thing exploded, turning him into Zoom. He blamed Wally for his situation, and dedicated himself to making Wally a better hero... by attacking the people he cared about most.

They're probably going to use a LOT of this motivation for Thwane. After all, the whole "Flash's biggest fan from the future" angle is more than a little stupid, even if they ARE going to have to introduce time-travel to explain Barry's mother's death. So synthesizing a Reverse-Flash from the two comic incarnations sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

Also, I like the idea that Eddie Thwane is kind of everything Barry WISHES he could be. Barry, in the show, is this scrawny, geeky scientist-guy who doesn't have a lot of confidence and can't just admit his feelings to the girl he loves. So who would make a perfect foil for him? A tall, square-jawed hero cop who more than likely is interested in the same girl he is.

And where's the perfect place for this dynamic to go once Barry becomes a superhero? Why, Eddie becoming a supervillain, of course! His worst qualities eventually coming to the fore through the handsome, confident facade he projects, even as Barry discovers the heroic qualities in himself that he never knew he had. That's drama!

Seriously, I cannot wait to see this show!

@soforizo: No problem! I'd definitely recommend reading the story if you get the chance-- it ran in The Flash #197-#200. I think it was collected at some point, too.
