Making promotional rounds for the highly praised "superhero team-up of a lifetime," Marvel's The Avengers, actor Chris Hemsworth has been discussing what'll be his third outing as Marvel's Mighty Avenger, Thor 2. Now chatting with Slash Film, Hemsworth sheds light on the new direction of Games Of Thrones helmer Alan Taylor.

"I have read a script and we start shooting in August. I met with Alan Taylor a couple of months ago and Natalie Portman and I and Alan and a couple of Marvel guys and it was hugely exciting. Ken [Branagh] did such a wonderful job and, with scheduling or what have you, he didn’t end up doing this one, but I’m a big fan of the GAME OF THRONES series, which is Alan’s latest work, and I think that is what’s exciting about the second one: making it sort of more tangible and having a more organic feel to Asgard and that world.

I think the science fiction element to THOR… the danger is it falls a little bit into the world of it’s “tough to throw a light to.” I think of big waterfalls and mountains and a Viking influence, where the Norse mythology kind of grew from. Having that in Asgard is going to make it all the more special and that’s what Alan wants to bring to it. I think that would be the new aspect to this one.

Exploring Thor's relationship with the Asgardian all-father Odin, as well earthbound companion Jane Foster, “Thor 2” follows the God of Thunder to other worlds beyond Asgard and earth. With the Warriors Three tagging along, among other Asgardian warriors, more mythical Norse creatures are expected. “Thor 2” stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Mads Mikkelsen, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, and Ray Stevenson. Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones”) takes over directorial duties from Kenneth Branagh, who helmed the first “Thor” film. And “Thor 2” hits theaters November 15, 2013.

Make it in the same style as Lord Of The Rings, and it could be Marvel's greatest film next to The Avengers.

@JasonBourne I know, I doubt it, but I would love to see a Tony Stark Cameo in Captain America 2, or vice versa. Like how when Spidey was going to court, Matt Murdock was his lawyer. And of course they can throw Widow and Hawkeye in there too. MAY 4TH 12:01AM!!!!!!! I WILL BE IN THE IMAX 3D THEATER, IN MY CAP COSTUME!!!!

I used to be really worried about this movie, but the more I hear about it, the more excited I am.
@StrangerX, I agree. I think Thor: Journey into Mystery would work really well as a title.

Thor 2 has a great director

Iron Man 3 has a great director

Cap 2 has a shortlist of shitty directors

Hulk 2 isn't even announced

Marvel needs to get this together. Can't really complain though, considering DC is total shit (huge sans Batman and Superman) in live action movies

I want them to explore his relationship with Vikings. I want his "godlyness" to be highlighted. Show people worshiping him, was he a benevolent god? Stuff like that.
