Gushing over his dual role in Thor: The Dark World, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje now offers more about Algrim the Strong and Kurse, while expressing his consistent desire to play Black Panther

Before the English actor was nabbed for the dual role of Algrim the Strong and Kurse in Thor: The Dark World, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje had been campaigning for Marvel's Black Panther. And although he's currently talking with Marvel about another role, Akinnuoye-Agbaje tells MTV News that the Wakandian King is still on his radar; even though a movie hasn't been greenlit.

“Who do I want to play him? Myself, let’s be real. I would hope that playing Kurse would ingratiate me to becoming the Panther. You get in and have success in one, and you go and do the next one. [My campaign] is definitely not dropped. He’s one of my faves. I would love to play him,” he continued. “You have to keep at it, you have to keep your card in the hat and see what comes out but I have to say I’m thrilled, I’ve been able to play two characters in one movie and if [Marvel] likes this and it this does well, it just gives you a better chance.”

Even after gushing over Thor: The Dark World in yesterday's post, where he revealed interesting tidbits about his dual role and who he does battle with, Akinnuoye-Agbaje had more to say about the Dark Elf villain(s). Speaking about his early talks with director Alan Taylor on the character's backstory, AAA adds: “I didn’t actually know an awful lot about that character and when I did my research in the comics there wasn’t an awful lot. But with the director and myself, we sat down and looked at what was traditionally known as Kurse and we tried to put our spin on it. There was quite a bit of creative license in how I would interpret him but the wardrobe, the setting, they were phenomenal. When I set into that outfit, I was Kurse. They did such an amazing job it made my job so easy. There were all these different factions, a different person was making the helmet, a different person making the arms, they all came together prior to the shoot, but in terms of my research before I didn’t do an awful lot but once I got into the outfit it set it off. I think the fans are going to be pleased.”

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios.

I suppose he could do it, since he'll likley be in heavy makeup in this film. I was hoping he'd be Drax, though.

Anyone know how to pronounce his name? I got five on NO

AAA would make a decent T'Challa. I prefere Michael Jai White as Black Panther.

No Triple A, you're only gonna be Kurse.

There's only one BP and his name is Aldis Hodge.

T'Challa needs to be a little more regal and handsome in features, in my opinion. Add in the fact you don't play Triple AAA in Thor and then BP in another Marvel film.

Are Algrim and Kurse the same character who changes his name?? I'm a bit confused

Digimon Honsou is Panther. there are no other candidates. none.
Rambaldi47
Rambaldi47 - 1/15/2013, 12:59 PM
Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider weren't in the MCU, so there's no issue with actors playing different heroes/villains. If AAA were to play Kurse and BP, both franchises are in the MCU so it wouldn't make sense. I'm all for Aldis Hodge as Black Panther.

@film, ya algrim is a dark elf that becomes kurse, I won't spoil the rest. I had to look it up too

Good God people... why would anyone want anyone to play multiple characters in a shared universe? Absolutely moronic... like Rambaldi47 said

Aldis Hodge for black panther.

Ha1frican - 1/15/2013, 2:02 PM
Hmmm i wouldnt mind seeing him as Tchalla but i think Tchaka is a better fit at this point. I imagine T'Challa being younger leading to him bing more rash and arrogant. That guy from The Wire? Was that the show? Thats who i want for Tchalla and as long as Adewale has significant make-up im completely fine with him bein another character. Its only in the case of say Idris elba where his face is learly shown when he plays one character that i have an issue (despite idri being an awesome choice for Luke cage IMO)

Gbenge Akinnagbe was the guy i had in mind, although Aldis Hodge is good choice as well

AAA for Man-Ape or Erik Killmonger.

@MARVELPSYCHO79

Marvel Studio only can hire Chris Evan cause his Fastantic Four contract is over since they rebooting the movie.

Hugh Jackman wont be doing a Marvel Studio since he is stuck doing X-Men movies at Fox Studio. if Fox says they rebooting the whole X-Men movies and start with a different cast Hugh Jackman is a free agent to do a Marvel Studio movies.

I think he doesn't realize that since Black Panther is in the MCU that it would be weird if he were both roles.
NightForce
NightForce - 1/15/2013, 6:03 PM
He's too big to play Black Panther. BP should be much leaner but still muscular. Plus he's already Kurse so it would be weird if he were two characters in the same universe.

I could see it.

I have been saying this for years, but regardless of who plays him, Marvel needs to quit dragging on this!

Judging by how perfect they made The Destroyer look in the first Thor, I've very excited to see what Kurse finally looks like!!

Ya know, he would be good for Drax. Never thought of that. Didn't really care too much though. Really cool to see them using Kurse. I still have those issues of Thor when he first appeared.

Aldis Hodge IS Black Panther
Stature, Talent, Athleticism, Charisma, Age, Passion for the Roll, and easy to lock down for multi-picture since he isn't well known yet.

If anyone knows the character and the actor they cant deny it.

The only negative is he isnt African but he pulled off a believable African several times in Leverage.

mgeoff88 - 1/15/2013, 11:11 PM
I think he would be a great choice for Black Panter.

@jessepostal I do, but only because on a TV show a character said his whole name, well, the last part of name was exaggerated for comedic effect.

I still know how to pronounce his whole name though. So did you mean five dollars or five hundred dollars? ;P

@guardstarr LOL!

If they do get him to play Black Panther, they better do it soon! He's gettin old... i guess he could always play T'challa's father

of course they're not gonna cast him in more than one role within the same universe. you have my word, that that won't happen. weird that he would even think so himself.
