Patrick Doyle who composed the first Thor film used many different elements to make a fantastic score. Ain't It Cool's, ScoreKeeper asked him about the sequel and his return.

SK: You have had a really incredible couple years, scoring PLANET OF THE APES (2011), THOR (2011) and then now BRAVE. Is there any talk yet about you being on board for the next PLANET OF THE APES or even the next THOR movie?

PD: Well it’s being discussed at the moment. (Laughs) That’s all I can say. I’m having meetings with the directors, so that’s the hope.

Thor: The Dark World is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2013.

Thor 2 is an upcoming American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. It is intended to be the sequel to 2011's Thor and the eighth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alan Taylor is set to direct a screenplay by Don Payne and Robert Rodat with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba reprising their roles from the first film. Thor 2 is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2013.

In April 2012, Hemsworth confirmed that filming is scheduled to begin in August 2012, in London, England.Hemsworth also revealed that Thor 2 will have a more Viking-influenced feel, elaborating "I think the science fiction element to Thor… the danger is it falls a little bit into the world of it's 'tough to throw a light to.' I think of big waterfalls and mountains and a Viking influence, where the Norse mythology kind of grew from. Having that in Asgard is going to make it all the more special and that's what Alan [Taylor] wants to bring to it."

@Marvel72 eh im gonna have to disagree there i think Cap had one of the better MCU scores, second only to Iron Man

Love this kind of stuff. With a unified score it makes watching the films in sequence alot more enjoyable, thats smething i think Nolans Batman franchise did well is that while there are diferences in the scores there is always and underlying thread of similarity and in some cases it is full blown tracks

Do we all agree that that title card is ass though?

They should've gone with the traditional Thor logo from the comics, like the title card for Guardians of the Galaxy.

I liked the cap score more than the thor as well, it stood out more, silvestri went with a lot of stringed instruments from that era as well as woodwinds. To me that's a talent and ballsy.

This is definitely good news. I love Silvestri, and he obviously is very good, but Doyle provides infinitely more epic scores, which lends well to the God of Thunder.

@Marvel72 fair enough i definitely liked Thor's score but personally Caps resonated more with me. Reminded me alot of a classical Indiana Jones, Star Wars type adventure score :)

Doyle's score for THOR was very underwhelming IMO.
Didnt really have that godly epicness i wouldve liked to hear.

Thor's soundtrack was extremely par. Not bad, but not memorable at all - like pretty much every Marvel film thus far.

I was hoping that Phase II would correct that, guess not if this is anything to go by.

Doyle is a must. I'm still in disbelief that we got a Branagh / Doyle team for Thor. It would be fantastic if Doyle returned for the second film, even without Branagh.

@Ksommer my list goes like this
Iron Man 1 and 2
CA:TFA
TIH (the whole monster movie Frankenstein thing at the beginning was amazing IMO)
Thor
The Avengers
(To be clear i liked them all, but felt the Avengers one was underwhelming in spots)

Will be good to keep the same feel for both films. i do not want it to be so different if feels disconnected to the first one.

^when the percussion kicks in during Son of Odin I get chills every time! SO good! Probably the soundtrack that stuck out the most and added to the movie to me. I distinctively and activel noticed the score in Thor more than I did in any other MCU's
