Patty Jenkins, who is best known for directing Monster, decided to depart from Disney and Marvel's highly anticipated THOR sequel couple of days ago. She is another director after Kenneth Branagh that didn't manage to finalize the deal. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins commented on leaving the production, saying that she looks forward to working with them again. More below:

"I have had a great time working at Marvel. We parted on very good terms, and I look forward to working with them again. I have a long love of superhero films and I'd been saying over and over again to my agents at CAA that I'd like to do one. The Marvel guys are so brave in terms of who they choose overall, and I don't think they had any pause about me being a woman."

I was really looking forward to seeing her take on the character, because I think she would do be an interesting choice. But now, studio is already looking for a replacement, and we will be hearing something soon. Stay tuned.

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are expected to return for a sequel. THOR 2 is set for November 15, 2013 release.

Just sign NEIL MARSHALL already.....for some reason, i wouldnt be too excited to hear they re-signed BRANNAUGH. His take was good, but not great, and MARSHALL has done some really good work on GAME OF THRONES....CENTURION was a solid film as well...

...MAKE IT HAPPEN MARVEL!!!

Holy crap? Are you people serious?

Maybe Jenkins really did have a lot of fun working with the Marvel guys, but maybe Marvel had a different idea about where Thor 2 should go than Jenkins did. If her vision didn't fit with what Marvel had plans for, maybe they decided that it is for the best that Jenkins didn't direct Thor 2. It's called creative differences.

Not every Hollywood breakup has to be full of drama or hate.

Marvel and Kevin Feige are evil! They put a lid on her creativity! Oh wait......she left on good terms, enjoyed working with them, and maybe would do another movie with Marvel?

Marvel haters fail.

Cripes, people need to realize that real life rarely calls for heaping doses of reality-show level drama. "It's bullshit because if they couldn't agree on the direction for the film to take they must have hated each other!"

If I managed to get divorced without massive drama and hate involved then I really have no trouble believing that people in a mere business deal can decide that they don't want the same things from a project and so split. It happens all the time in creative projects. Better for one or both sides to walk away with no hard feelings than to go forward making the film you don't want to make.

Dang it. Ever since this came up, and I realized Mel Gibson would be perfect but will never be chosen, I get disappointed thinking about replacements.

"uhh...by the way, i know we've been on this for several weeks now, but lemme make sure again. Ummm..Thor is the one with the guy who gets green and big whenever he gets mad, right...??? [silence] Ummm...what..?? okay, i'll shut up, now. Let's move on."

Wouldnt have wanted her on board anyway, it probably wouldve turned into more of a romantic comedy than the last Thor.No Bueno. Thor needs some hardcore testosterone, i rather see Sif as his love interest anyway

Favreau, Branagh, Patty Jenkins

Joe Johnston is the next victim to be stood up as a Marvel one night stand.
