EXCLUSIVE MONDAY UPDATE: I've learned that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Thor director Kenneth Branagh have cast their Loki, the nemesis to the lead in Thor set for release on May 20, 2011. He's Tom Hiddleston, unknown to American audiences but an award-winning British actor and Royal Academy Of Dramatic Arts (RADA) graduate. He played Winston Churchill's son in HBO's The Gathering Storm, but, more to the point, note that Hiddleston starred in Ivanov opposite Sir Kenneth on the London stage and also starred with him in the BBC miniseries Wallander. Marvel Studios won't confirm my news, but Hiddleston had been considered as a possible Thor. See my previous, 'Thor': Unknowns? There had been a big Internet push to cast Josh Hartnett in the Loki role but instead Marvel went with an unknown. This follows my news of the weekend casting of 25-year-old Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth as Thor since Branagh was in town to finalize the principal cast. See my previous, EXCLUSIVE: Chris Hemsworth Is 'Thor'.

I hear the Marvel Studios press release about both castings is being written and should be released soon. Chris Hemsworth also a virtual unknown to American audiences, yet he was approved to play the lead role in Thor by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and the film's director Kenneth Branagh. Hemsworth can currently be seen as "George Kirk" in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot and also just snagged the lead in Red Dawn for United Artists last Thursday. (He's currently filming Joss Whedon's horror flick Cabin In The Woods for UA, and I heard the studio was so hot on him that's why it cast Hemsworth in the action pic.) The 25-year-old hunk played "Kim Hyde" on 171 episodes of Home and Away, the successful Oz TV series where Heath Ledger started. The way Chris Hemsworth got the part of Thor is one of those great Hollywood stories that happens only once in a blue moon. I have all the details here.

Tom Hiddleston is a brilliant actor. If anyone has seen him in any plays and in his films. They should know he is totally, going to smash this ROLE! Awesome. Now we're getting somewhere! ;)

This guy doesn't say 'Loki' to me... but then... Heath Ledger didn't say 'Joker' to me either. Then I saw TDK. I'm satisfied with the Thor cast as I can picture Hemmsworth with long blonde hair and about 20 lbs of muscle, but I'm gonna have to see this guy in costume. I'm glad they have finally made some decisions. I gotta say, while Thor has never been one of my more favored characters, I feel more anticipation for this film daily.

Now... JANSEN ACKLES FOR CAPTAIN AMERICA!!!

lol. Eh, I cant see Jensen as C.A. Honestly, maybe "Bucky" lol uahaha. Hiddleston will do awesome as LOKI. I always though Ledger could pull a joker of easy, he even had the SMILE for it.

I want an UNKNOWN for Captain America.

Aiiwolf: I originally thought Heath was too young honestly. I see now I was wrong lol. You know, initially when I first heard people saying 'Jansen for Cap' I had a bad taste for it thinking, "that would be terrible". True, he has the look already, without doing much more than some muscle toning, in particularly he has that square jaw and face. So I started looking in on him and only got more impressed the more I found and then I saw him in 'My Bloody Valentine' and he was really good. Some of the stuff I seen on YouTube shows the guy does have talent and charisma, and I could totally buy RDJ, Norton, and Hemmsworth taking orders from him, I think he could sell it. Look into it and maybe you'll soften up to it ;)

I've watched 'Supernatural' not impressed. My Bloody Valentine, aw com]n are you serious. That movie sucked. lol...and He was also on Dark Angel, Smallville, and Dawson's Creek [Oh, god that show sucked!]...even 7th heaven where he starred as a kid in a halloween costume or whatever.

I'm not buying the idea of him as Captain America, hes too soft, and his TV acting aint going to give him a serious role as Captain America. I mean you expect them to choose this guy that starred in a terrible movie as My Bloddy Valentine 2-D/3-D...to LEAD a role such as captain America. Plus, its not even the ACTOR they choose I'm worried about anymore. Its the Director, Joe Johnston.

The First Avenger: Captain America (2011) (announced)
The Wolf Man (2009) (post-production)
Hidalgo (2004) = 6.6/10 stars
Jurassic Park III (2001) = 5.7 Stars
October Sky (1999) = 7.7 Stars
The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: Spring Break Adventure (1999) = 5.8 Stars
Jumanji (1995) = 6.3/10 Stars
The Pagemaster (1994) = 4.7/10 stars
The Rocketeer (1991) = 6.1/10 Stars
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) = 6/10 stars.

^ Thats not a very good LIST of movies, or rating for those movies by critics, and fans as ourselves. October Sky, and Hidalgo are possibly his best works. I though the guys that wrote the script to "Road to Perdition" were going to write the Captain America movie. That was before the Writers strike, than they changed it. David Self is working with this director on Wolf-man but, he cant help this guy with good Ole Cap? If Wolf man flops, than you can expect the same from Cap lol.

I dont think this captain America movie is going to be taken as seriously as I thought they would, because first they've been talking about it for the past 2-3 years, and they dont even have a solid script or actors ready for this film yet. I mean the writers for Captain America, are alright, not much of a fan of Narnia, but "You Kill me" was a very good under-rated flick.

So, I'm gonna have to say no to Jensen once again. not impressed. We have a mediocre Director, and writing crew, and this film looks like a HIT or Miss right now. I think they need someone that can LEAd the film, or make us belieev he can do it, and Jensen doesnt do anything for me to make me believe he can lol

JUSTIN BRUENING [Knight Rider], he CAN ACT. He wouldnt be a bad choice, and hes young. Born 1979, Career started in 2004, so yeah pretty under-rated as of now.

I really like James Franco. Hes very talented, and can play nearly every role, and him as Cap, not a bad idea, but than again I always imagined Cap looking like a Paul Walker mixed with Joel Gretsch look-a-like lol.

I always thought, Brandon Fraser Could do, if anyone can lose wight next to BALE, its that guy. Hes a real master at breaking his own body, and reaching its peak. George of the Jungle, saw that movie. Only problem is he is OLD now.

Timothy Dalton as Red skull or Baron Zemo?

Wade Harlan as Sargeant Duffy?

Just a few ideas, I had in mind. what you think? Other than Jensen?

Aiiwolf: I agree that Jensen wouldnt be my first choice for Captain America (i would prefer him as Hawkeye) but i gotta disagree with you about Supernatural, it awesome!

I would like Wentworth Miller (Michael Scofield from Prison break) as Captain America

Michael Scofield reminds me a mixture of Eminem and Vin diesel lol...Hes awesome in Prison Break, the show until like after the 4 season I believe...I mean If you and your brother broke out, should they have renamed the next season "Back to Prison"...well, for those that watched the show know what I mean. The same way I feel about Smallville, should the show be changed to "Metropolis"...shit hes in the city now...and the show doesnt thave the same feeling as it once did when I first you to watch it religiously. lol

I like the idea as Jensen as Hawkeye...sounds sweet. But, Scofield as Cap, huh? I dunno man...I sorta see him as "Agent X" ....He could totally pull that off, his attitude and everything. He just needs a big X on the top ofn his head, and hes made for that. but, it would never happen, Agent X, and taskmaster, and even moonknight are so damn under-rated.

I still think Captain America should be played by an unknown, I think it would be best for everyone. No one can judge him.
