A TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT Sequel Is In The Works At Paramount (For Some Reason)

Transformers: The Last Knight was considered something of a commercial disappointment following the success of the first three instalments, but it's now been confirmed that a fifth movie is on the way!

Despite the fact that Bumblebee was supposed to be a soft reboot for the Transformers franchise, producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has now revealed that a sequel to 2017's The Last Knight is in the works. This news is sure to leave fans baffled, especially as it feels like now is the right time to move on from the Michael Bay era of movies.

"We are already working on two projects and both have scripts under development. One is the latest in the main family series following the events of Transformers: The Last Knight and the other is a sequel to Bumblebee. So, we are thinking of films where Optimus Prime and Bumblebee will be the buddies, but when Optimus and Bumblebee are the movies of the protagonists … how human beings get involved in their drama In the first place, the size is different between human beings and theirs …. It’s a worrying point (laughs)."

That all sounds rather weird, but it will be even stranger to have these movies playing out in both the past and present, especially if Paramount Pictures is going to attempt to link them and create a "shared" universe similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What's even more surprising, though, is the fact that a sequel to The Last Knight is even happening. The movie took in only $605 million at the worldwide box office in 2017, making it the lowest grossing instalment to date and a huge disappointment when previous films passed the $1 billion mark.

No release date has been revealed for this sequel, and it's unclear how involved Bay would be.

They should make quintessa destroy all the transformers and unicron and that leads to Optimus travelling back in time to the events of just before Bumblebee. And they should say Unicron is more of a ship build in Earth than an actual super transformer

Realistically that means nothing, it probably just means that one of those movies is set in the modern day.

The continuity in these films is retroactive half the time anyway.
They'll make a Bay-less Transformers movie in the modern day and it will be the 6th film but probably not a direct sequel.

Just my two cents

There's only ONE reason Paramount is considering another sequel in this dreadfully idiotic franchise:

Even though Last Knight wasn't a big hit, historically these flicks turn a big profit for the studio. This franchise is totally critic proof and the only way to truly stop them from pumping out this garbage is by refusing to pay for more of the same. In Hollywood, like in almost all things, money is God.

As a true G1 Fan, this is why Paramount doesn't get any of my time and money.

Not for TF films or anything else.

Well as long as we get to see Unicron and Bay isn't involved I'm happy!

i will say this ... Last Knight was better than Age of The Extinction.
Age of Extinction felt more like a product placement.

If only they could cut ut the first hour of Last Knight - the movie would be much better.

@jerryblake - I will say I agree with you there. AoE felt more of a toy gimmick to release new Transformers. Then again my favorite Transformers is Dark Of the Moon so my opinion is a moo point.

@jerryblake - age of Extinction wasn't great but it was at least watchable... As a fan of the transformers movies (yes) I couldn't even comprehend the last Knight and how awful it was
