Shortly after Michael Bay denied recent casting additions to his fourth Transformers movie, young Irish actor Jack Reynor was rumored to be offered a lead role in the upcoming film, which has Mark Wahlberg signed on to star. Now, the director has taken to his official website to confirm that Reynor has been cast in Transformers 4 alongside Wahlberg, calling him "the real deal". He also addresses comments claiming that the four-quel was a reboot of the franchise, saying that the story is a natural transition from the last movie. Finally, Bay confirms that the film, which will be very different from the last three, will be the first of a brand new trilogy.

I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously, who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie WHAT RICHARD DID. This kid is the real deal.

Transformers 4 is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net.

This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.

Michael

With filming beginning this May, Transformers 4 is set to hit theaters June 27th, 2014.

Eh, I'll probably be there opening night just for the entertainment. Transformers wasn't really a huge part of my childhood. Though the 2nd and 3rd movies BLEW HARD DICK CHEESE, I still saw them opening night in theaters.

Yeah, i won't be there either.
I liked the first movie, so i was there for the 2nd one. I hated it, but i thought it was an easily rectifiable mistake, which is why i was there for the 3rd one. I hated that too. So no, i've given up.

Nobody in the movie will probably remember the war in Chicago. Despite the thousands of deaths, billions of dollars in damage, constant media attention, and the many Youtube videos that prove otherwise.

This makes me so sad.

Anyone play the War and Fall for/of Cybertron video games? The story AND music is nothing short of fantastic in those. So epic

[frick] you Michael Bay

Bay has ruined Transformers for me. Used to collect the toys and watch the cartoon as a kid, now I can't stand anything to do with the franchise. And he's going to do the same to the TMNT, who I loved as a kid. Can't stand this guy's work.

I think Narutos pretty shitty though bro,

Anyway back to Transformers. Not only the video games but anyone watch Transformers Prime? Its geared towards kids but frankly, I DON'T find the humans annoying.

The show is great. So if you MUST include humans, do it right! No stupid "wanting to get the hot girl" subplots, no human dilemmas aside from the ones the Transformers directly cause.

THE TRANSFORMERS ARE THE MAIN CHARACTERS! Something Bay DOES NOT get!

What?
Did this idiot just wrote "this Transformers will feel very different THEN the last three"

THEN?

This idiot can't even write!!

& I think it'll be the first time EVER; that a director says that his next Film is NOT a reboot but another sequel & yet says that it'll be "Very Different" ... Well that's what's called a reboot, u fvcking jerk! New Cast, new story & "very Different" is what's called a Reboot!
Besides, your rebooting your own pieces of shit & then will make a few more pieces of shit!

Bullshit - BAYSHIT!

Transformers 2 is such a bad, illogical, and senseless mess that just thinking about it pisses me off. The movie itself is a thorn in my side. The fact that it made over $400M domestically still astounds me. It's not the worst movie ever, but to me, it's in the top 10 worst movies ever.

I feel like we're the ones to blame for this movie happening by giving Bay a second chance for Dark Of The Moon (which the title sucks still) and adding more fuel to the fire (money to the box office) especially with it being in 3D. If you need me I'll be playing the Transformers Battle & Fall of Cybertron games to enjoy a good story with great characters and no humans.

I can't wait til Michael Bay stops doing Transformers films! The franchise deserves so much better!

@JatevinM I'll be watching this... when it's released at Redbox. And that's only because Mark Wahlberg is in it.
