A Working Man promised to be one of 2025’s biggest and best Blockbuster movies. Was it really, I know that 2025 isn't over yet, but still..
Starring the Iconic Jason Statham, I knew that it was going to contain certain themes such as a lonely man, a man with little attachments but still something dear to lose, a man with cold savage replies and one-liners, Jason Statham standing in a room filled with bad guys and low key warns them before beating practically everybody unconscious, and the likes.
However, I also hoped to see a storyline that would keep glued and attached beyond the fight scenes- which I would get to in a moment.
Honestly, I don't know if it is just me, but I have seen this so many times. The best variation of which and my personal favourite is Homefront. It had a working theme and followed a very similar build up.
Beekeeper was good too, but I think they ruined it they way he randomly accessed the president of the United States and randomly escaped through a window. Surely the president has to be more secure then that, right?
The Movie review
The movie is a story of a former soldier-Levon Cade (Jason Statham) now a construction worker loyal to the family who owns the construction company. The daughter of the owners got kidnapped to be used as a sex slave by some random rich sex pervert who almost lost most of his cheek, a part I think he truly deserves.
However, Jason's character who initially refused to do anything which would lead him to a resemblance of his former life in the military later accepted to rescue his boss’s daughter. This led him on an unforgiving hunt leaving bodies in his wake. Of course, he finally gets the girl.
Now to my discontent relating to the movie. I hate how Jason didn't at any point get at least a proper beat in any scene. Regardless of how many people he is up against, he runs through them like a train going through a pork farm. This shouldn't be so, especially when they unconsciously indicate that some of the bad guys are also ex-military.
I somehow feel there are a lot of missing scenes. Maybe they cut down the scenes for the sake of runtime. I probably wouldn't like the scenes if I saw them, but it would have helped establish context. After watching the movie, I felt like I skipped through the movie even though I watched every part.
Finally, Jason's character almost never changes across movies, but I still think they could've spiced it up a bit.
