For fans of
The Walking Dead universe, one of the most exciting current aspects is the current war with the Whisperers, the villainous group which was responsible for that spoilery bloody ending at the end of
Season 9, which saw the end of characters such as Tara, Henry, Enid, DJ, and the Highwaymen and the (spoiler) death of Siddiq prior to the
Season 10 midseason finale.
The group is run by Alpha (Samantha Morton) and Beta (Ryan Hurst) and there have been several clues lately that things with the Whisperers could be coming to a head - such as Beta's pre-apocalypse career being confirmed in a
Fear the Walking Dead easter egg, which you can read about
here, or the fact that Negan has seemingly infiltrated the group as he did in the comics.
Despite either of these potentially being signs that the Whisperers could be coming to an end, actress Samantha Morton who plays Alpha urges fans not to assume that anything will happen the way it did in the comics.
"Is it coming to an end? That's what you assume. That's the thing about AMC and that world, and the comic book world. It’s like, you just don’t know what they have in store, and you don’t know how people’s stories [are going to go]. ‘Cause I just had, ["We Are the End of the World"] was a flashback episode, that I didn’t know was coming up. And I was like, ‘Oh, wow, we get to go back to the past.’ So you just never know."
While AMC does usually change certain aspects from the comics, Alpha's demise in the books came from (spoiler) Negan infiltrating her group, gaining her trust, and decapitating her - which certainly seems to be what the series is setting up, but it could be a red herring!
