Arrow actress Emily Bett Rickards discusses Oliver's (Stephen Amell) actions against The Count (Seth Gabel) to bring Felicity to safety. Rickards also touches on the debut of Barry Allen aka The Flash (Grant Gustin) next Wednesday. There's also a deep dive into Rickards' upbringing and even her hidden talents.

A seemingly impossible robbery at Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division brings Central City police scientist Barry Allen (guest star Grant Gustin) to town. Citing a similar case back home, Barry offers to help Oliver (Stephen Amell) and team with the investigation. Oliver senses there is more to Barry than meets the eye, but he’s distracted by the similarities between this current case and something that happened on the island. Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) takes a liking to Barry, which doesn’t go unnoticed by Oliver. Sin (guest star Bex Taylor-Klaus) asks Roy (Colton Haynes) for help when a friend of hers goes missing. Roy is surprised when Thea (Willa Holland) not only encourages him to help, but joins the search. Unfortunately, Sin’s friend is connected to Brother Blood (guest star Kevin Alejandro), and their search ultimately gets one of them seriously injured. Michael Schultz directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kresiberg and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg & Geoff Johns (#208).

Arrow season 2

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, and Christian Bale never sounded or looked like a definitive Batman...you know why? Because there ISN'T a definitive Batman. There are different versions, looks, voices, suits, and backgrounds for all of them. Same applies to Flash. John Wesley Shipp played Barry even if he had "dark" hair and a different voice yet he managed to do a decent job. So to you people who are saying he doesn't look or sound the part, I kinda wonder where you got your "definitive" Barry Allen from because he showed up only in the following media sources:

Superfriends
Young Justice
Batman The Brave and the Bold
JL The New Frontier
JL Doom
JL Flashpoint Paradox

Basing it by just that doesn't justify how he should "look" and "sound". Even in the comics there isn't a "true" sound to him. Hell different voice actors have played Barry. Sure he has his blood hair and mature look but you're forgetting back in the Silver Age when Barry was the youngest of the League at 24 years old during that time. Face it, you hate his "feminine" voice and his looks which absolutely makes no sense to me but rather you're trying to sound more "manly" than Gustin. [frick] that shit. If he can pull of the acting and nail the character, then he can be my Flash any day of the week.

OH and BTW: "Someone's meeting with a trainer for the first time tomorrow.. project "superhero body" will commence"

That's Grant Gustin back in October and if you recheck his twitter, he's putting in serious work. You guys want manly, there you go you [frick]s.

? Never said that. Just don't judge others when you should judge yourself. I don't even know if he is going to be good as Flash but hell I am giving him a chance before I point fingers. Not fair when he has only 2 lines in a trailer and various photos. And that doesn't mean he is the greatest actor of all time you [frick] that means I'm being fair and willing to give him a chance. Hell he could be terrible too who knows.

Seriously...history repeats itself over and over again. Hell I still remember when Ranger14 said Henry Cavill was too feminine and boyish to play Superman back in 2010! OH LORD JESUS MOTHER OF GOD! I wonder how stupid we will look after 2 years of this show...if it's good or bad or average..

Cavill is too small and too meterosexual to play Superman. Bomer is even worse in those categories. It's time we have an actual SuperMAN! Large, imposing physical stature is a must. Joe Manganiello has the absolute perfect build for Superman. Just not sure of his acting, though he is no worse than Routh or some of the other names floating around."

Superheromoviefan@ I have gay friends and they don't want a gay playing Superman. It is very easy for feminine characteristics to sneak through when playing roles, not unlike Worthington and his accent. If it weren't a big deal, WB wouldn't be nervous about casting a homosexual, so apparently they care. Like it or not is a major image issue that they have to consider when casting the part.

My main issue is they are both too wimpy looking. Superman should be a minimum of 6'2 or 6'3. Adding inches to heels does not make your actual physical stature look bigger. Both Cavill and Bomer have small frames. Regardless of putting on a little muscle, neither of them will have the tall imposing physical stature that Superman should have. Superman should have the stature that Chris Hemsworth has. (See Photo above"

AND I can quote many more people from back in the day with Ledger, Evans, Hemsworth, RDJ, and Cavill and so on.

I remember when Stephen Amell was cast as Arrow. Everyone trashed him calling him a pretty boy and the male prostitute from Hung. I personally think he's knocked it out of the park as Ollie. Grant deserves a fair shot as well. Personally, I think he's gonna make a damn good Flash and I can't wait for Wednesday.

You can you have your opinion but don't call shit out when obviously it's a double standard. It's a two way street bro. And it's not confusing, you're over complicating things. Because we haven't seen anything, we cannot judge him properly rather we can judge his looks/voice for now but looks/sound mean little value when compared to acting ability IMO as we see in Keaton, Kilmer, Bale, and Ledger. Hell he could be horrible I don't know. You can have your opinions that's all fine and dandy but don't call people out when the shit is on you too.

"Oh Grant Gustin is going to be awesome as Flash and he's great."
"Oh I don't think he looks/sounds the part and he will not be a good Flash."

Both of these statements are leading to the same thing: they are critiquing Grant after a couple lines he had in a trailer and a couple of set photos. And you're calling the people out who said he's great when in fact you're being a hypocrite yourself and ALSO critiquing him after 2 lines and photos. You're being a hypocrite, you are contradicting yourself, and you're being a dumbass. Not hard to grasp but I guess you need special help or something.

Just give the man a chance, we should be grateful that we are getting such shows that we have been wanting for years. WB has a good formula right now and they know what works, Arrow, Smallvilee, Supernatural, hell even the Vampire Diaries have a core following and they know what doesn't work such as Mercy Reif. I will be one of the adults here and wait until we see what this guy does before I give my opinion on whether or not he is a good flash. Even Batfleck, I wasn't too happy when I heard the news but he does deserve to at least be seen in that role before we say he was an awful choice or good choice!

I prefer to wait and see how the guy plays the role before I decide if I like him or not. I've never seen the guy before, so I don't know if he's a skilled actor or not but the cast of the show keep saying that he's great. Since I like the show and all of the actors on it, I trust what they say and I have faith that he'll be good, but I won't know for sure until Wednesday.

The Barry Allen/Flash was originally exactly what they are showing on Arrow. They are Nailing IT!

He was a Police scientist/lab nerd and was accidentally endowed with super speed. The actor they have is PERFECT for that character. He's a nerd that accidentally becomes a hero.

When he climbed up on the chemical lab rack with all those chemicals and the lightning was striking in the background I almost geeked out...it could have been a panel frame right out of the original comics.

The writers are all over this story and Killing It!

I've been a fan of The Flash since the 70's. This Arrow series is the closest yet to the source. If they give him a ring with an expanding suit I'll absolutly geek out! Can't wait for Professor Zoom, Reverse Flash and his wife's nephew Wally West(Kid Flash/The Flash) can't be far behind. Whoo Hoo!!!
