Megalyn Echikunwoke Confirmed To Play Live-Action VIXEN On ARROW

The CW DC Universe (DCTV) continues to expand as Megalyn Echikunwoke is now confirmed to bring her animated superhero counterpart to Arrow. Read on to find out details on when Mari McCabe will make her debut. Did we just get one step closer to a Birds of Prey spinoff?

Megalyn Echikunwoke, the voice of the titular hero in the animated Vixen series on The CW Seed is confirmed to make the transition to live-action on The CW's Arrow.  The animated digital series is considered canon so it will be interesting to see how Arrow references the first meeting between Oliver Queen, Barry Allen and Mari McCabe which occurred during last season. It stands to reason that quite  a few Arrow viewers didn't get a chance to watch the digital series so the Arrow showrunner may chose to minimize how much the initial encounter between Green Arrow and Vixen is referenced.  Of course, with the addition of Vixen, the CW-verse gains another candidate for that often rumored, Birds of Prey spin-off.

Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim had this to say on the addition of Echikunwoke.  "We’re not only thrilled to be further expanding our DC television universe by bringing in the live-action incarnation of the CW Seed hit, Vixen, we’re immensely excited that Megalyn will be revisiting her role as Mari McCabe."

Echikunwoke is scheduled to appear in the 15th episode of Arrow, currently scheduled to air on February 24th on The CW at 8/7c.

A Birds of Prey would be cool. We could have Laurel, Vixen, Huntress, and maybe even the White Canary.

That way maybe Arrow's story arcs can be more streamlined.

She pretty much has the same powers as Animal Man. She can use the abilities of any animal or creature(speed of a cheetah, fly like a bird, etc.)

Noice, I'm liking the sound of a possible Birds of Prey series (although it would probably go on another channel due to CW saying they don't want anymore DC shows). Laurel, Helena, Mari, Sara, and Cindy all together and kicking ass would be awesome to see

She's cute, but a little thin for my taste. Still, she fits the superhero body perfectly.

Still, very exciting to get more high level heroes on TV. And a Black one at that!!

I think they have said Legends of Tomorrow would be the final spin-off for the CW/DC universe. so I don't think a Birds of Prey series would happen in the near future anytime soon. We could get a Birds themed episode of one of the shows, I could see that being the road they go down

I cannot begin to convey how awesome this news is! Loved the animated shorts. @Nivekian Im sure it'll be canon. The Vixen animated shorts take place during season 3 of Arrow and the first season of the Flash. They don't have to go into some over drawn origin story for her either. Arrow and Flash will just casually mention that they know who she is.
