I'm probably just too big of a purist (coughnerdcough) to enjoy any of the riffs they put on the Batman mythos.
But hey, if you like the show, more power to ya...

I've been treating Gotham like a Major League Baseball player at a celebrity game.
You know baseball is a serious game.

But today just have fun with it and try to enjoy yourself

The Gotham season2 premiere really saved the show for me lol OMFG I endured all the silly story lines from season1 including useless ass Barbara, who almost stole the episode but I still have no f*ckin idea what they're doing with her! Penguin is spot on as always and pairing him up with creepy ass Victor Zzaaz had me rolling when he picked up that severed head!!
JeromeKer lol is the Joker and if not this show can go to Hel!! Bruce Wayne is a total dumbass for not figuring out that the password was his name Lmfao I guess in 2 tryst. First I thought of course it's Bruce's Birfday, then I just knew it was his name. Gordon got too deep but dug his way out for now.
I have hope for this season but I'm hesitant

A pretend "redband trailer" for a network show is kind of adorable. And it reinforces for me why I'm even watching Gotham anymore: I like unstable and violent women.

And so my relationship with Fox has come full circle. They get my eyeballs if they fill them with Jessica Lucas. Completely transactional.

WTF..."I'm not sick, I'm free"...there ain't no strings on me? Just a mish-mash of everything that was seen and done in the past 5 years, and the forced knockoff joker is just horrendous! You don't need to be looking at people with your head down to act 'mean and deranged'... It's like watching someone forcing a loud laugh for a bad joke, it's embarassing! Season 1 was barely salvageable thank god for Penguin & Ed, but I don't see what could possibly save season 2 at this point...

Eh, it kind of grew on me.

I think the problem is that most can only view it is supposed to be a prequel for some version of the Gotham mythos that would be faithful. When it really is more inline with Ultimates, or some DC elseworld, and if it is a prequel to anything then it is to a very different Batman.

Damn, their going full on Ledger Joker in the trailer

I'm gonna tune in for this season, but I really wish that the first season led up to the death of Bruce's parents, and they could have waited on adding The Joker or an interpretation of The Joker until later

I'm definitely going to check this out though

@FrankGarret

Agreed. I think Gotham should stop trying to tease stuff that people would rather be watching (a Batman show), and just be its own thing. Sometimes I think they flirt with it, but they seem afraid to go all out Ultimates.

Like have it turn out that Alfred killed the Waynes' on behalf of the shadowy WayneCo. business conspiracy (which totally explains why he spent all last season trying to persuade Bruce to drop his investigation). It would be a hell of a twist on the traditional story, and I can totally hear the actor who plays Alfred confessing to Bruce with genuine anguish. "That's right, Master Bruce. It turns out the Butler did it all along."

It's stuff like that that makes me hope for some kind of DC multiverse, with really crazy Elseworlds style interpretations of characters. But I just don't think these people have the guts to go that extra mile to make it worthwhile.

@Spock0Clock - That's a great idea! Really shake up the Batman mythos. Hell, why not kill off Bruce and have Gordon become Batman in his honor? Prequels can never be fully dramatically satisfying because we know where they're headed, but "What if" stories are great fun, especially since this show isn't part of the cinematic universe and therefore isn't beholden to any established version of Batman.

That said, I found the pilot completely moronic, but this actually looks quite interesting, if a little sadistic - brutal villains are fine if you have a good hero for them to play off of, but Gordon's completely lost in the madness. Also, that line about "cogs in a machine" is definitely Ledger-Joker-lite.

Also, I really hope he isn't the Joker, mostly because I hate the idea of knowing exactly where the Joker came from. Although, Heller's been very deliberate about calling Jerome the "DNA of the Joker" or something, which leads me to believe he inspires the real Joker, or he's possessed by a Joker demon or something.

I like Gotham for what it is. I really like that Shameless dude's portrayal of Jok....er...Jerome (if he doesnt become Joker, that'll be just wrong). I do not understand what's going on with Barbra tho. Why is she crazy now? It's been awhile since the episode where she was abducted and her parents killed, but she didn't kill them did she? I can't remember, but I thought it was the dude. Lesbian scene with Barbra and that Galavan chick!

Show is awesome trailer was awesome and Jerome is gonna be awesome. And just like the entirety of smallville had no "superman" Gotham will never feature "batman" until maybe the last scene of the last episode of the final season so people need to get over it. The point of the show is it's pre-batman Gotham and the beginning of Gordon's career.

Barbara annoys the shit out of me. Is Gordon just going to end up with another women named Barbara or is he naming his daughter after his psycho bitch ex girlfriend?

When I watched it, the show was okay but it was frustrating that it is so far removed from Batman. I'd love it if it were year one told from everybody except Batman's perspective. Bruce Wayne is just a background to them, an afterthought. The city's been overrun with crime and now there's some lunatic running around beating the crap out of people, and the only thing his victims have in common are that they are all alleged criminals. And get this - they can't identify this lunatic but they all say one thing - he is dressed like a bat. That's a premise I wish the show had and I can't get it out of my head so it ruins he show for me.
