LUCIFER Canceled After Three Seasons; Series Finale Will End On A Huge Cliffhanger
FOX continues its bloodbath of cancelations and has announced today that they will not be renewing Lucifer for a fourth season, which means Monday's series finale will now end on a major cliffhanger.
FOX has officially canceled Lucifer after three seasons.
Monday's eagerly-awaited third season finale will now serve as the series finale and according to co-showrunner Joe Henderson, that is going to be especially tough as the finale ends on a "huge cliffhanger" that is going to frustrate the hell out of its loyal fanbase.
Lucifer is just the latest casualty in an especially brutal week for several FOX series as its cancelation comes in hot on the heels of fellow fan-favorites, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Mick, and The Last Man on Earth, also receiving the ax yesterday. In addition to Lucifer, the network has also announced the cancelation of The Exorcist earlier this afternoon.
Following the cancelation, furious fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment and a #SaveLucifer campaign quickly begun to pick up some major steam and is currently the #1 trending topic worldwide on the social media platform.
While it remains to be seen whether or not the fiery campaign will ultimately prove successful, it seems increasingly unlikely that the beloved series will get a resurrection from FOX, especially considering that Lucifer is owned by Warner Bros. Television, which gives them even less incentive to bring it back. The more likely scenario would be a pickup from a competing network or streaming service and while Netflix and Hulu are the popular destinations, the upcoming DC Universe would probably prove to be the best fit. It would also give Warner Bros. an established series and fanbase to launch their network with, which is really just good business sense.
Read the reactions from the showrunners and the cast below:
For the last 3 years I’ve had the privilege of working on Lucifer with some of the most incredible people in this industry. We literally had a “no asshole” policy. I’ve grown up on this show. Married my husband during season 1, found out I was pregnant on season 2 and had my son season 3. Being your Mazikeen has been so very special to me for so many reasons. Playing this fiercely strong yet vulnerable, pansexual demon, has been my honor. To discover on a weekly basis, just how much a character like her, who looks like me, means to so many out there, has made my heart swell. I read your messages and fan mail and I’ve loved getting to know you as we tweet every Monday. I will miss that. To the fans, you’re incredible. Truly. You took us from a pilot to a series and a pick up not once, but three times. I’m incredibly sad we don’t get to give you another season because I truly feel there’s so much story left to tell. Thank you for your support, your constructive criticism and for giving us three wonderful years together. 🙏🏾 To my incredible cast mates, my family. I love each and everyone of you and while we will all go on to our next project, this time with you has been a career highlight for me. I started a family all while working and loving on my Lucifer family. I’ll be seeing you all...A LOT! Thank you for doing this dance with me and for being THE reason why guest stars loved working on our show. To our crew both in Vancouver and Los Angeles, thank you for all your hard work. For the daily laughs and for helping create the best set I’ve ever worked on. We are nothing without your hard work. To our writers, thank you for giving Mazikeen breath and life. For creating her world and for collaborating with me for 3 years. For indulging my ideas and giving me the freedom to bring her to life. To our producers, thank you for giving me a shot at a time when I’d been on the pilot auditioning hamster wheel for so long. I love Maze. She feels like a second skin to me and I sure will miss getting into those leather pants. Be sure to tune in on Monday. We weren’t done yet. Until next time. Always, LA x

Entering its third season, the story of the original fallen angel continues. As Season Two came to a close, Lucifer took care of a little problem called Mom, aka Charlotte (Tricia Helfer). But now he’s facing an even greater challenge – finding out who kidnapped him, and why his angel wings are back. In addition, Tom Welling (Smallville) joins the cast as Marcus Pierce, an accomplished police lieutenant who is everything Lucifer (Tom Ellis) is not – strategic, reserved and well-respected. But perhaps even more annoying are all the things they have in common. Both men are charming, charismatic and handsome as hell. So when Pierce starts developing a connection with Decker (Lauren German), Lucifer's devilish traits are inflamed.
Lucifer features:
Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar
Lauren German as Chloe Decker
Kevin Alejandro as Dan Espinoza
D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel
Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen
Tricia Helfer as Charlotte Richards
Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez
Scarlett Estevez as Trixie Espinoza
Rachael Harris as Linda Martin
Tom Welling as Marcus Pierce/Cain
