Former LOIS & CLARK Star Teri Hatcher Joins SUPERGIRL Season 2 As A Major Villain

Teri Hatcher, television's former Lois Lane, is heading to Supergirl! But, this time she won't exactly be a friend to the House of El as she'll be playing the second season's big bad! Come take a look!

It sounds like Dean Cain won't be the only Lois & Clark star to make their way to National City, as it's being widely reported that Teri Hatcher has also joined the cast of Supergirl season two in a major recurring role - however, unlike her former co-star, who plays Kara's adoptive father, she'll be breathing life into a role that's being described as the show's next prominent villain. Further details on the villain in question weren't provided, but she's expected to make her debut later this winter.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg released a statement following the announcement where he expressed his excitement at getting an opportunity to work with Hatcher: "No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all-time favorite Lois Lane, to have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg [Berlanti], and the fans.

This marks Hatcher's second return to The CW, having previously guest-starred on the tenth season of Smallville as Ella Lane where she provided some timely guidance for her daughter Lois, played by Erica Durance. The move also reunites Hatcher with her former Desperate Housewives co-stars Mehcad Brooks, who plays Jimmy Olsen a.k.a. Guardian, and Brenda Strong, who plays another baddie, Lillian Luthor.

Hatcher is best known for her starring roles as Lois Lane on Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman for four seasons and as Susan Mayer on Desperate Housewives for eight seasons. She currently recurs on the CBS comedy The Odd Couple alongside Matthew Perry & Thomas Lennon and is also in the midst of filming Jason Mewes' directorial debut Madness in the Method.

So, what do you guys think? Who do you think Hatcher will be playing? Sound off with your thoughts below!

The hour-long drama centers on Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Supergirl features:
Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
Mehcad Brooks as James 'Jimmy' Olsen
Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant
Chyler Leigh as Alexandra 'Alex' Danvers
Jeremy Jordan as Winslow 'Winn' Schott
David Harewood as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter

Dean Cain as Jeremiah Danvers
Laura Vandervoort as Indigo
Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer
Chris Wood in an undisclosed role
Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr

I was a fan of Teri Hatcher's Lois. I think it was mostly due to being young, dumb and full of .......

Ok, time-out. . . Who on God's green earth thought it was a good idea to let Jason Mewes direct anything? Nothing against him personally ( I enjoy his work for what it is ), but he's lucky to get convention appearances.

Interesting. On one hand I think this could lead to interesting scenes with Dean Cain who plays Jeremiah, a mystery that is also playing along the Season. What I wonder is if she is playing someone known from the comics or someone not that known, and if it is that, then the character could be taken liberties to modernize her for the show.

On the other hand I am a bit disappointed that we have another big bad be a female when we already have Lillian Luthor. I was hoping for a man that would contrast with her, since I liked the duo of Astra and Non and later Non and Indigo in Season 1. I hope that for the next Season they go back to that or try something different.

I think she pulled off the quintessential Lois performance for sure. Perhaps even better than Margot Kidder dare I say.
If memory serves me right, she was super confident, head strong and didn't give a damn about Clark. Their relation was super contrasted by the one she had with Superman.
I remember being super hooked into that show back in the day. I was frustrated when it was cancelled.

Add me to the "Favorite Lois" group. But, that's not a super high bar, though. I hope they get Olivia Wilde for the Disney DC reboot.

@Spock0Clock - Olivia Wilde is a great actress and a gorgeous woman, but in my mind, Lois needs to be a bit more curvy. Just my opinion, though. As far as taking someone from House MD goes, I'd definitely go for Odette Annable instead. I wish I knew how to paste an image in my comments but I don't so here is a link. Tell me if that's not Lois Lane. I DARE YOU :)

@KingNomarch - I'd watch the hell out of it.

Aaron Taylor Johnson would make for a good 20 something John Wick.

He favors Reeves a bit

@LordHarryLatts - yes! Lois is supposed to be all those things and more. Durance was sassy as hell, had a wry, hard-edged wit and was super sexy.

She was the embodiment of everything Lois is supposed to be.

ManDeth
ManDeth - 1/31/2017, 12:54 PM
@ComicsBornAndBred - She and Welling developed a great chemistry too. Better than any I can think of in any CBM or TV series in a long time. If you look at the sad efforts of on screen chemistry in live action super hero fare there isn't much competition. The biggest thud ever might be Barry & Iris. Or could it be Snyderverse Lois & Clark or Thor & Jane?
