SUPERGIRL Gets Series Commitment At CBS; Logline Hints At A Role For SUPERMAN

DC Comics are bringing another series to yet another network as it has been revealed today that Supergirl (that IS the title) will come to CBS with a full series order!

Supergirl has finally found a home as the latest TV show from DC Comics, and it's been given a series commitment at CBS, the network behind the likes of Elementary, The Big Bang Theory and Under the Dome. The hour-long drama will focus on Kara Zor-El following her escape from planet Krypton amid its destruction. The official logline for the drama adds that she has been "hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin" (that's Superman obviously) and that now at the age of 24, "she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be." The pilot was penned by Ali Alder (No Ordinary Family) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow), and they will both executive produce alongside Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros. TV. TV Line meanwhile confirm that it will indeed be named Supergirl. What kind of role do you think Superman will play?

"hints that superman will play some kind of role"?
There is nothing in that tagline that indicates that. Nothing

What exactly are you talking about Josh? The logline in no way implicates that Superman will have a role in the series, it just mentions that he is her cousin. Just like the TNT "TITANS" description mentioned that Nightwing will be trying to escape the shadow of Batman, but he's obviously not going to make an appearance.

I agree with @MonsterSquad35.

Superman will have no involvement. Just like the rest of the DC universe the TV programs will not tie into the films..........

Damn cb shows are taking over tv. First film now television. Will people get tired very it?? Also, so Superman is referenced?? WB and the big budget film honchos are allowing that??? CBS handling a superhero show ok.

Its the most watched network in our country Doopie. It is typically CBS 1, NBC 2, and then ABC and Fox flip flop a lot for 3 and 4.

They are definitely gonna try to make this like Smallville. High school years so they have a show that teens could watch. This show will be hot trash. "Tune in to next week when supergirls menstral cycle kicks in..." Cue the Dawson Creek music.

Sounds interesting but this television show is not for me.

It's good to see a super hero show have a female in the lead with actual super powers.

Well if Superman does exist, maybe we'll get him too, it's just not going to be MOS Superman but Supergirl's Superman. That's what they're doing/planning anyway (Constantine in the show, while another one will be in JLD; The Flash on TV, and The Flash cameoed in BvS and appearing in JL; and an older Batman in BvS while we have a younger Bruce Wayne in Gotham, etc.). So why not.
