After arguably the strongest hour of the season, next week, Kara will be tasked with investigating a cult, which seems to have a surprising connection to Supergirl.

Elsewhere, Samantha struggles with being a good mother to Ruby and J'onn comes clean about an old secret. Plus, based on the events of tonight's episode, it's looking increasingly likely we'll see more cracks begin to form in Alex and Maggie's seemingly doomed relationship.

Watch the new promo for episode four, titled "The Faithful," below:

"The Faithful" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, DV) (HDTV)

CHAD LOWE GUEST STARS - Kara (Melissa Benoist) investigates a secretive new group whose leader, Thomas Coville (guest star Chad Lowe), has a mysterious connection to Supergirl. Meanwhile, Samantha (Odette Annable) feels like she's letting Ruby (guest star Emma Tremblay) down, and J'onn (David Harewood) confesses an old secret. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Katie Rose Rogers (#304). Original airdate 10/30/2017.

As Superman’s cousin, Kara Danvers (aka Supergirl) balances her work as a reporter for CatCo Worldwide Media with her work for the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), a super-secret government organization whose mission is to keep National City – and the Earth – safe from sinister threats. At the DEO, Kara works for J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter, and alongside her sister, Alex, and best friend, Winn Schott. Also in Kara’s life are James Olsen, a photo journalist who moonlights as Guardian, a masked vigilante, Lena Luthor, and Mon-El of Daxam, whose planet was ravaged by Krypton’s destruction. In season three, Kara and team will come up against a new threat in the form of DC Worldkiller, Reign.

Great episode......couple of corny parts, but still very enjoyable.

I would rather watch this 100 times than Supergirl once.

Horrible episode. If you cut out the Mars stuff and showed it to someone who never watched Supergirl, they might think it was The L Word. The agenda pushing is only hurting this show. The subplot wouldn't make sense even if it was straight. This is an action show and there was almost no action. Plus the part about building a wall was just bad writing. I thought Linda Carter was president.

Along with most of the Martian stuff, the only part I liked was this scene.

This is a comic book show with way too much drama and political correctness and way too little action.

@defenderofthefaith - Ironically, that SHOULD be what Arrow is like, since liberalism is a major part of Oliver Queen's character.

i feel like this show became about Maggie or Mon el and Supergirl is just something they’re stuck with ,jesus they are doing exactly what arrow did back in season 4 thank god for the wake up call , now Supergirl needs one , cause the rating are going down the toilet. man i never quit watching shows i start , especially if its a DC adaptation but boy this one is tempting...

The show is a total action-figure commercial kiddy parade ! but I would look at Melissa Benoist in that costume all day long !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I shit on this show a lot, but i'm not a hater.
I really liked this episode...matter of fact i LOVED it!
Veeeery emotional, and all that martian storyline...good stuff, man.

The only shitty moment was with Kara in the car playin' that song...

Definetely their best episode yet.

The Maggie/Alex BS is vomit-inducing. As was Mon-El/Kara. And the political agenda BS. Killing this show. Supergirl had a lot of potential after a good foundation established in season 1. Oh well, it wasn't meant to be.

@GeneralZod - Good thing the romance won't last too long, or did you not know Maggie's leaving during this season?

This show would be really enjoyable if it pruned out the unnecessary love story between Maggie and Alex and stopped the awkwardly biased political jabs. It really ruins an otherwise great show.
Nothing against lesbians. They're just terrible characters, and the drama adds nothing to the show. Also Lena Luthor sometimes forgets to do her American accent and lets the Irish out.

Pretty good episode, though thought last week's "Triggers" was better. Really miss Mon-El, Chris Woods and Melissa Benoist enjoyed such great comic/romantic chemistry, plus the fact I like seeing Kara smiling and happy... guess this season is working towards her learning to embrace her "human" side again. Ah well, can always watch season one and two on Netflix (which I do). Not diggin' the new blond-er look.
