UPDATE: SUPERGIRL TV Show IS In Development, But Don't Expect To See Her On The CW

Following reports that DC Comics are planning a Supergirl TV series, it has now been confirmed that it's in development, but one site cautions that the show likely won't end up joining Arrow and The Flash.

E! Online confirms that Warner Bros. and DC Comics are indeed pitching a Supergirl TV series to various networks. The news that it was in the works first came to our attention yesterday. Gotham producer and comic book writer Michael Green is attached, but insiders caution that, "there is no deal yet in place, however the series is not expected to go to the CW, who was first pitched the project, and who, of course, houses both Arrow and The Flash." It sounds like they passed on Supergirl then, perhaps because they're satisfied with the success of Arrow and are taking a risk with the CGI heavy first season of The Flash this year. It's a shame though as adding a hero like Kara Zor-El to Oliver Queen and Barry Allen's world would have been great to see. If NBC decide to give Supergirl a chance, seeing her meet up with John Constantine could be interesting...

UPDATE: Deadline have now weighed in, and they have a few more details about Warner Bros. and DC Comics' Supergirl TV series. Apparently, Michael Green has no involvement, and it is instead being developed by Greg Berlanti (The Flash) and Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family). It's set to be a, "new interpretation of the the Supergirl character and her story," with Adler writing. Geoff Johns is also expected to be involved, but it's not yet clear in what capacity that will be. They add: "The Supergirl show doesn’t have a name yet. I hear the producers are considering several options that need to be cleared, including Super and Girl." The Hollywood Reporter clarifies this by stating that, "the project will not be called Supergirl." What do you guys think?

Doubt anyone in network will pick up the series, since it will be CGI-heavy. Cable would be the way to go.

They need to do a solo Supergirl movie instead. There is no way they could do her powers justice with a TV show budget.

And I don't want them to approach this show like another Smallville.

People don't want another Smallville, they want something new.

Hope has nothing to do with DCU Supergirl and any other Kryptonian takes so much away from the superman character. He is the last of his race, yet puts himself in danger to protect his adopted world.

He is alone and trying to conform and fit in, it is one of the great relatable parts of the character, if you give him a family it takes that away, suddenly life is great.

Zod is different as he represents what Supermanis capable of if he was evil, and is a great conflict as Zod is also the only connection he has to his world.

Good, keep her on TV instead of the movies. Between Superman and Shazam they don't need her.

I'd rather see a movie. If teeny boppin CW didn't pick this up, i'm not sure who will. SuperGirl will have to be heavy CGI to do it any justice.

Supergirl needs to be done justice on the big screen. She's a really great character. Anyone who's seen Apocalypse knows what i'm talking about.

why not on CW? would have been great to see both Arrow, Flash and Supergirl teaming up. Thats the fun. but with Gotham at Fox, Arrow and Flash at CW and if this happens outside of Arrow universe... what a waste, man

DC actually has the film rights to all it's properties and they still won't put them in the same continuity.

-MoS and BvS have a unique continuity
-Arrow and Flash has a unique continuity
-Constantine has a unique continuity
-Gotham has a unique continuity
-Supergirl will have a unique continuity
-And there's a chance that "Shazam" will be separate from MoS and BvS.

What a disappointment. Why can't they bring everything together?
