The CW has released a thrilling new trailer for the final five episodes of Superman & Lois season one, offering a quick preview of what's to come as the Man of Steel (Tyler Hoechlin) squares off against Tal-Rho (Adam Rayner) and fights to save Smallville and the world from... himself?

In related news, Deadline is reporting that Sofia Hasmik, who plays Smallville Gazette editor-in-chief Chrissy Beppo, has been upped to series regular status for season two. Further details on her role for next season remain under wraps, but fans can surely expect more adventures with her idol Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch).

While the currently listed cast list is subject to change as we head into the final few episodes of season one - which has its finale set for August 10 - the main cast for season two is tentatively expected to feature Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Jordan Elsass, Alex Garfin, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wolé Parks, Adam Rayner, Dylan Walsh, and Emmanuelle Chriqui.

Check out the epic new trailer as well as the new promo for season one, episode twelve of Superman & Lois, titled "Through the Valley of Death," below:

This show is low key phenomenal. I've wanted a serious Superman show for a long time, I had no idea I needed one like this.

Wonder how far they will go with Superman being controlled by his brother.

Could they go full on Superman The Animated Series, Legacy.

Would be cool if we get a DCAU CADMUS type story next season.

@dracula - That's one of my theories, maybe season 2 will be about Superman regaining everyone's trust.

"I think the idea that Superman would react to the death of Lois Lane by becoming a tyrant is ridiculous; my mum and dad died and I didn't become a tyrant. If I can handle it, Superman can handle it."

@Reeds2Much - I agree but i also feel like him being tricked into killing her and everyone in Metropolis is a pretty big detail to leave out.

@Reeds2Much - god,now i want a grant Morrison penned Superman movie, he is someone that can write an original series with his sensibilities and also write and understand the core of established characters unlike someone that shall remain unnamed

@Reeds2Much - I mean, I get that but I'm guessing this is talking about injustice in which case Lois didn't just die but superman was made to kill her.

Exactly. Lois was killed in Kingdome Come and Supes retreated from society.

Only 2 actors have perfectly represented the Superman of their era.

Christopher Reeve and now Tyler Hoechlin

Wonder who will be the next big bad
Brainiac
Eradicator

Doubt they would do Lex so soon after they already changed their first plan for Lex

Really the show is so good, i wouldnt mind a season without a big bad, just focused on the family and Clark teaching Jordan

@dracula - Im betting we will see some form of the Eradicator at the end of the season. Maybe setting up season 2.

In a way, we have nearly everyone from the Reign of the Supermen: Kal, John Henry, Superboy, and the Eradicator is in now in play. Will Kryptonian Palpatine find a way to become corporeal and be the final big boss?
