Deadline reports that The Flash's upcoming ninth and final season will see the return of some fan-favourite Arrowverse characters. According to the trade, David Ramsey (John Diggle/Spartan), Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork) will all guest star in episode 9.

While Diggle is a character who originates from Arrow, he's actually appeared in 10 episodes of The Flash since its first season, so an appearance here makes sense.

"As one of the legacy Arrowverse characters who helped start it all, John Diggle holds a special place in our hearts, as well as the fans," executive producer Eric Wallace explains. "Plus, the commanding presence and commitment to excellence actor/director David Ramsey brings to the screen each and every time is truly inspiring."

"So, of course, it was a no-brainer to have Diggle join Team Flash in our final season! So, get ready for a very emotional reunion as John Diggle aka Spartan helps protect Central City alongside Team Flash one, last time."

As for Lonsdale, he played Wally in a total of 45 episodes, but other commitments saw him leave the series after season 5. Wallace adds, "We’re so happy to reunite with the incredibly talented Keiynan Lonsdale as a part of The Flash’s final season. Because Kid Flash isn’t just another speedster - he’s a beloved part of our Team Flash family."

"So as soon as we knew he was coming back, we set out to create a special and heartfelt story for his return. The result is a brilliant performance from Keiynan that showcases a side of Wally West you’ve never seen before."

As for Bloodwork's return, it's said that the villain "will set into motion one of the Flash’s wildest and most emotional adventures yet."

While interest in The Flash has waned somewhat in recent years, the show has a very loyal fanbase and they're understandably excited to see how the Fastest Man Alive's story will end. We also anticipate this being the final time we spend time in the Arrowverse as The CW moves on from the franchise.

@Doomsday8888 - Oh man, you just gave me goosebumps. I miss these days so much. The show had its low moments but it hit many high points. I'll certainly miss it.

Man this has me nostalgic for the first 3 seasons. It fell off really hard for me after that as did the rest of the Arrowverse so I stopped watching but what an era that initial Arrow and Flash run was

I'm starting to pick up on it has mostly been the fanbase saying and speculating that the Arrowverse is ending yet in these official press releases the EPs don't even bring that up. Huh.

I couldn't help but get vibes from that famous Spider-Man cover of the suit being left behind even if the contexts here are very different.

Nice poster! The fact that they're imbued with the Speed Force helps in making it stand out.

But it's the text from the official account that caught my attention as well: "Balance will need to be restored". It's intriguing, what could be unbalanced? We're coming off after Barry put the Forces back in order after defeated Thawne.

Bloodwork's return was foreshadowed since Earth Prime #6 ended so this makes sense.

I'm curious about Diggle's role here but excited for a Flash Family team up.

No wonder Danielle Panabaker was hyping 9x09's script.

However, I also wanna see Max Mercury after he was mentioned last Season when Barry connected with the Still Force. Season 9 can't end without introducing him.

@NinnesMBC - it’s literally the last show, unless the cw plans to announce some new shows then this is indeed the end.

@Taonrey - Superman & Lois actually would be. For better or worse Gotham Knights too, all thanks to the Multiverse. I'm still curious about Justice U and the chances of at least those 3 being shopped around.

@NinnesMBC - S&L is a cw show but its the DC multiverse not the arrowverse, Gotham Knights is 100% getting cancelled, Justice U isn't happening outside of a pilot. I can see S&L moving over to Netflix or HBO max

Flash is the fastest man on Earth.

So why does it seem like this limp show has been dribbling along for 30 years?

Grant Gustin should’ve been upgraded to a cinematic Flash but oh well. Dude is 100 times better than Miller.

For me the Arrowverse ended with Crisis. No hate or shade at anyone who stuck around and enjoyed everything, but I just couldn't. It was already a struggle for me to give those shows the benefit of the doubt everytime and overlook the cheapness and poor quality, but to me it would have been okay if it just had great writing, but the leaps in logic in the CWs shows just got more and more ridiculous, and the woke preachy shit was always dialed to 11.

When crisis seemed to wrap up most of the arcs I was invested in, I just called it.

Part of me wants to tune in to the final season or maybe just the finale..... but also I don't care beyond kinda just paying respects and nostalgia. For better or worse, the Arrowverse was a huge step in the right direction in the evolution of where we are today, having superhero TV shows with big budgets like The Boys and the Disney + shows.

We're still relatively new to this level of super hero programming compared to my childhood with shit like Steel in theaters and Mutant X on tv.

I’ll be watching this final season. Fell off the CW shows after Crisis but the first couple seasons of Flash where peak superhero tv and want to see if they can end it well. Also if they are bringing Wally back I kinda wanna see him in his rebirth suit. Wally is always number 1 Flash to be but if Barry needs to be alive that rebirth suit went kinda hard

Jesus... Allegra and Chester are so boring they had to bring in Diggle to save the supporting cast
