After a rocky start, Titans has really started to come into its own and following today's episode that saw Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) revisit a past mistake and get acquainted with his replacement, the wildly unpredictable and extremely violent Jason Todd (Curran Walters), the series crosses its midway point and heads toward a second half that could realistically go in any direction.

Next week, Robin, Starfire (Anna Diop), Raven (Teagan Croft), and Beast Boy (Ryan Potter) will head to a mysterious psychiatric facility where they hope to find Rachel's birth mother, but they're going to get a whole lot more than they bargained for as they're forced to face their deepest fears and vulnerabilities.

Season 1, Episode 7: "The Asylum"

When The Messenger (recurring guest star REED BIRNEY) reveals that Rachel's birth mother is alive and being held captive by The Organization in a mysterious psychiatric facility, Rachel is determined to rescue her. But once inside, the Titans are faced with their deepest vulnerabilities and fears.

Guest Cast: Rachel Nichols as Angela, Reed Birney as The Messenger and Rachel Crawford as Doctor

This is an amazing show. The acting is great, the story is intense and great yet not too fast, the Batman easter eggs are tantalizing. I hope this show is around for a long time.

It would be cool for the CW to acknowledge this is happening on a different earth. That way it creaks the door open for cross-overs or actors on the CW shows to pop up. I'm talking main actors like Amell, Gustin, Hoechlin, Benoist and such.

I could also see this crossing over nicely with Black Lightning. Anyway, great great show!!!!

Damn this episode was so GOOD! The casting is spot on,
Jason Todd was annoying in the best way possible and the subtle Nightwing tease was great.

The fight choreo is top notch too, it's brutal but not too over the top.

Can't wait to see the TITANS name-drop happen 🤘🏽

@CBMFilmJunkie - I haven’t started watching yet but don’t mind spoilers, what Nightwing tease?

@MrJoshua327 - Nothing crazy, just him and Jason butting heads and realizing he needs to step away from the Robin moniker and when Starfire asked how many Robins she should expect to come back to the house, he said none.

@CBMFilmJunkie - cool, thanks! I’m looking forward to watching the show and I’m really forward to Nightwing. I’m hoping that he’s Nightwing for more than the last episode.

Rocky start? It’s been ok to me. Been getting better with each episode. I wouldn’t say the start was rocky

Is jason todd a pubk like that in 5he comics? Has he beat up on innocent people before?
Asturgis
Asturgis - 11/17/2018, 4:21 AM
@pucrepeap - That would be a complicated and long answer. As a "main" Batman character, as you can imagine, there's been many versions of him and many a writer has portrayed him differently. Sometimes as a normal kid before Batman took him in, sometimes as a punk thief living on the streets. After Joker killed him (and he was resurrected in a Lazarus pit), he changed. He became an assassin for the All-Caste (the elite of the elite of the League of Shadows, a splinter group led by Lady Shiva), basically a criminal, until Batman confronted him, told him he was sorry, loved him like a son, and Jason came back to reason a little. After that was the road to redemption. He became a good guy again, but had no issue going lethal when he really had to. With Cassandra Cain, he's the only character who managed to clock Shiva (by cheating and feeding her poison 30 minutes before the fight). Shiva had battled Nightwing before and he couldn't even touch her once.

So beating on innocents, no, absolutely not, but trashing criminals and killing them if he had to (which is pretty much the way Robin has been portrayed so far in Titans except for the killing), yes (even though he doesn't kill anymore, he only wounds). To me, he's by far the most interesting Robin, and the one I would take with me in a fight over Nightwing. Dick is a technician, an acrobat, Jason a street-smart brawler who will fight to the death. He's also built like a brick house compared to Dick. He's Batman size.

I remember when so many people in the know would say "You just can't croosover Robin to the big screen from the page and it be believable." That excuse had be used in the Nolan Batman Franchise.

This show shows they were all idiots and did not have the acorns to try.

I am loving this show so far - could it be better? Yeah sure it could but the fact we are getting what we are getting is astounding to me! It is groundbreaking. And Dick Grayson has always been one of my top DC characters so to see his story being played out to me is like a dream.

Titans is capturing all the essence of the Wolfman/Perez run and turning up the volume of intensity. Loving the way it overcame preconceived notions of what it was!

To anyone who's making fun of the blood being so bright red it looks fake, you're too used to other shows and movies where blood actually looks nothing like the real thing. If you get your lip split, or your cheekbone, or your brow ridge, and you start bleeding, it looks almost exactly like this because the blood is highly oxygenated. If you've never experienced it yourself, check out rough MMA or martial arts matches, plenty of videos out there I'm sure.

Forget about all the "Oh I'm getting a nosebleed, I'm gonna raise a finger to my nose and there'll be one drop of sticky dark red blood". That, is absurd. This, actually looks more real than many shows.

Titans is just so good. It just feels right too. A real DC show, produced in-house by DC. No WB/CW/CBS bullshit. Everything from the Robin suit, to his and Jason's backstory, to the presence of the supporting side characters, struggling with their day to day life, to the look of the batmobile and the feel of the cave! Love this show, now I'm ready to see what its gonna do with the rest of the Titans.

My personal desires: let kick off the trigon conflict already so we can end this season by preventing his return and really fleshing out Raven's character. Let's bring in Deathstroke season 2, Red Hood Season 3, and keep adding more Titans along the way! Hey, I'm down to see Dick Grayson Nightwing lead a team including Blue Beetle and Tim Drake and Miss Martian.
